      Daybreak trumpets adventure
        night whispers in our ears
      Doubts dispelled by sunlight
        darkness quickens our fears 

      The moon shines bright

What a peaceful walk!
Palisade-treed-birds, echoing:
Ringing ears silenced:-

I Picked up My Ears

     Airplanes scream overhead
     Lawn mowers abuzz on the ground
     Traffic streams endlessly by
       drowning out nature's intentions
       all of her creatures’ sounds...

     One lonely night in

owls sharp ears

blurry dark evening
owls short ears are very sharp
she zooms in on prey

my ears are keener than dog ears

sitting on my dogs’ porch, their own domain
enjoying the sun that is kissing my right arm
brand new chain link keeps us hostage, away from delivery men
large annoying bumblebee zips in to say hello
she sounds like a buzz saw
no indication that either of my dogs heard the bee

The ears continue
to ring out profound silence,
echoing life:
When the echoes reveal,
Wisdom and understanding?

Ringing silent ears;
let us give God thanksgiving
for echoing life:
Without the quiet ringings,
Would we be in this loud world?!

Let us be happy;
wisdom and understanding
quietly ringing out:
God speaks in so many ways:

Echo in deaf ears

Lost deep in an echo chamber~
where I talked and my eardrums beat ceaselessly,
ricocheting voices of ghosts masked in agony,
tiptoeing faintly,
their feet blurred by the hallucinations roaming the night.

The emptiness copied the echo of my voice
and sent it far into the dark night~
where some owls were howling and some birds were bedding their young—

An Aardvark

an aardvark is a curious animal
that passes himself off as a mammal
with rabbet ears and pig snout
he is unusual looking no doubt
on ants and termites, he does feed
but not so much on centipedes
he hides by day in the ground
and comes out at night to walk around
the aardvark is an odd looker for sure
