Premium MemberHow the Sixth Sense Was Lost

LIFE IS GREAT
FANTASTIC
INCREDIBLE
AND AT TIMES
UNBELIEVABLE.

FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS
I THOUGHT EVERYONE
HAD SIX SENSES

APPARENTLY NOT.
ARE YOU THE ONLY OTHER ?
I'M NOT REALLY SURE
WHAT HAPPENED.

WAS IT MISPLACED?
MAYBE IT WAS LOST.
MAYBE IT WAS LEFT
BEHIND.
MAYBE IT BECAME
OBSOLETE AND
DIS-RE-GAR-DED.

I DO WONDER HOW
IS IT STILL POSSIBLE
PEOPLE STILL
MAKE IT THROUGH
THE DAY AND LIFE
UNHARMED AND ALIVE
WITH OUT IT.

I UNDERSTAND TODAY'S
TECHNOLOGY. YET I STILL
MUST ASK. DOES ARTIFICIAL
INTELLIGENCE POSSESS
THE SIXTH SENSE?

TO THINK...
WHAT ONCE WAS COMMON...
IS NOW OBSCURE.
WITH THE ADVANCEMENT
OF SCIENCE IT WILL
FOR SURE DISAPPEAR.

My Proud and My Pride

O my beloved Kashmir!
Thou are my proud nation.
Core of my heart, my country!
You're naming the sweet Paradise on earth.
Almighty Allah has been bountiful to you,
Riches of value in every sphere.
The outside world's beauty is so limit,
When they heard, 'Kashmir is Paradise on earth! '
you're my proud, you're my pride,
Because you have given us so many gems!
Sheikh ul Aalam is known as 'Nund Reshi'
And Lal Ded is known as 'Lal Arifa'.
Nund Reshi and Lal Arifa,
Both have given us ma'rifa!
Core of my heart, my country!
I love my valley,
Of waterfalls & green jungles,
Of streams & Crystal like Kounsarnag!
Of meadows & Shepherd pastures crystal like rivulet.
I love your Dal Lake,
Your beauty & your nature's bounty,
The wide greenish land for me!
The unmatchable snow cliffs, looking like unbeatable Kashmir!
In the beauty and in the nature's bounty!
You're my proud, you're my pride!
Core of my heart, my country!

Knowing very well won't ask how are you;
Understand how much stressful to be lone;
Believe me, since you left all my joy flown;
Know you're sad, I'm also in hardship too.
Don't want to express what I'm going through
to return home, it's punishment for me;
There's limitation to lead life carefree.
Life soon became bored; just waiting for you.

Thinking of you memory fetches tears.
Yes, I'm responsible, you can't be blamed,
to mar our affairs 'twas built over years.
But, see after you left nothing I gained.
I don't fall in group favoured with their stars;
No face to call you, I'm so much ashamed.

Byron's sonnets are obviously influenced by the
Italian form rather than the English and possess an octave and a sestet.
The Octave comprises of a progression of three rhymes
a. b. b. a... a. c. c. a.
but it's the sestet that makes it unique, d. e. d...e. d. e.

Premium MemberMother Nature

glory of morning sun on forest of trees,
the twitter of birds from many nests unseen,
what devilish mind, cruel hands would fell these?

clear stream lilting through, reflect moon’s silver sheen,
caressing pebbled shores, nurturing the seeds,
what evil creature pollutes with waste unclean?

many orchards of fruits and grains for our needs,
a host of colours with flowers, humming bees,
what heartless soul would drop a bomb to cause bleeds?

in azure blue skies fly a flock of white geese,
over snow clad tops of Himalayan peaks,
what greedy species would shoot and kill with ease?

mother nature groans as she weeps, shakes and creaks,
can we stop, listen? to her children she speaks!

Premium MemberThe Silence That Screams

In primeval forest, earth’s secrets deep lie,
wind whispers soft midst trees hundreds of years old,
as together they praise ancient Gods on high.

With dawn’s first light, avian chorus unfolds
till fractured by din of a chainsaw’s shrill whine
announcing the pillage of nature’s last hold.

From dawn of time, did man and nature entwine
in ageless dance to maintain a fragile balance
yet with man ascendant must nature decline?

Tear not the fabric of earth’s fragile valance
to loose a future of fire, flood and bust
ending with nothing but entropy’s silence.

As round us consecrated soil turns to dust
and machines once mighty waste away to rust.

2/16/2021 - mea culpa In my "Tera Rima sonnet" the second line of the fourth couplet did not rhyme with the couplet which followed giving a rhyme scheme of aba bcb cdc ded ff rather than aba bcb cdc ded ee. This has been corrected in the last edit.

Premium MemberDreams of Childhood

"How sweet to the heart are the scenes of my childhood"

            Samuel Woodworth, 1785-1842

standing on the window of my friend’s house,
we let childhood imaginations loose,
fairy tale of gods demons we espouse.

grassland with myriad flowers to choose,
dragonflies, butterflies to play and chase,
Jack farmer’s friendly talking sheep and goose!

our dreams had wings, no reality base,
killed enemy warriors in brave fight,
our weapons were satchels or pencil case!

however night saw the fall of our might,
with darkness crept out our deep inner fear,
close to mother we stayed, hiding our fright!

life was full of love, yet purpose not clear,
good old childhood days will always be dear!

Premium MemberThe Conundrum of Early Roses: Saraband Sonnet

Outside new rose buds contemplate
the future, should we bloom or no,
and tempt our own vermillion fate?

We are not winter's afterglow,
they muse, but amulets of grace,
consider buildings stacked in place
without decorum or brio!

Which is the greater of the two
in March--intentions must not mar
the garden cloister--to eschew

the world or flutter like a star
or horse manes lilting in the breeze?
Remember thus: our pedigrees
grant entree to a love's boudoir!

Poem To Lal Ded

my hunters' bow was bent to shoot -
   but i had no arrows!
instead i had to take my feelings...
and then i arched the bow once again.

i charged the bellows and my throat with breath
    but only fire spurted out!
now i have to use lava
     instead of words...

my senses fattened
like five rams for slaughter -
     so i fed them the grain of psychedelia;
     now i see things i shouldn't see...

the mortars of love-madness
    continue their bombardment...
    i seek shelter...
    the shelling persists relentlessly -
    my fortress lie in ruin...

She Is An Angel

She is an Angel.

Ceraphic chants among us hum,
She has compassion for the poor,
Yes,she truly is an angel.

She experienced a "call within a call",
To serve the poor,sick,vulnerable,
She has compassion for the poor.

Vocal proponent of Albanian independence,
Mother Teresa, from a well of family sacrificed,
To serve the poor,sick,vulnerable.

Counselled other nuns to create a community of angels,
Took vows to a life of poverty, chastity, obedience,
Mother Teresa from a well of family sacrificed.

Angelic kids in innocence glow,
Mother to destitutes, needy and good to all,
Took vows to a life of poverty, chastity, obedience.

Heavenly beings are fond of her,
Ceraphic chants among us hum,
Words are droplets of honey and care,
Yes,she truly is an angel.
