The Decent

Deep in melancholy fields I sit.
Heavy with the thought, I'm pinned in place
The past, present, future wrestle in silence

A hill of happiness rises in the distance—out of reach, yet inviting
I notice that both sides are longer than the apogee
My legs tremble, not from the height but from fear
Fear of short-lived joy

Each step echoes in the

Nothings On

Buck off a twenty; should twenty
buckshots mean nineteen too many?
Extinguished abruptly,
with Godspeed so mighty,
effortlessly shattered,
sending molars afar.
So far they say a
shard was found in
the neighbor's yard.

Found someone at the bar.
Didn't want to get in the car.
Pray tell, that didn't get far.
I arrive at the walkway;
I push past a pause, just
I can't stand until

A Public Message To All Decent Democrats

We want all Democrats to behave
As though they truly and genuinely believe
In a True Democracy
Stop at once the nasty hypocrisy.

Like they belong in frumpy old cans
Of lies, insurrections, nightmares, hooligans
And right-wing fans who crave and rave.

We want good and credible elections
Not biased and absurd selections
We want Real Democracy.

In the laughter of the decent 
Baskets from the past bring sorrow
