My wife can three languages speak
Her Italian has a mystique
With English hooray
She has a cachet!
Though her Crochet texts mimic Greek

Premium MemberNovember serenade

the stream meanders
its ribbon rippling under a tired sun
that time seems to have forgotten

yet the afternoon warmth
exudes its ambrosial cachet
in the most gracious of manners

meanwhile a september breeze
gently rustles playful leaves
that have begun to turn

and autumn most willingly
parades in robes of elegance
with multicoloured jewels

Companions of the Night

A life partner advances and sashay
orients a midnight blue chamber room.
Recast as sparkles, prompts unsealed cachet
dawns blessing past twilight upon the groom.

Marital rapture, quietude splendor,
and tantalizing tides affect its mood.
Affections high, stimulate surrender,
low-keyed attractions, reliant subdued.

A bluish globe and whitish counterpart
skirt the heavens and their nearby harems.
Though *two unloved passersby, they depart
like unacknowledged heroic sirens.

Duality, from beginning to end,
luminescence shreds darkness constants friend.

*Venus and Mercury have no moons.

The Scent of Summer's Day

Breezes on boardwalks
                 that carry its essence
Suntans are fragranced
                   by its very presence
Beach balls are bandied
                        within its cachet
Whitecaps that rush salted
                         flurries my way

Taffy that’s pulling my nose
                               to the door
Sugared delight
                   cotton candy galore
Coconut sandies that
                          flavor my eyes
One whiff of chocolate
             I’m hooked, no surprise

Perfume of lemons
                    on girls strolling by
Peanuts’ aroma
                       by gift of the sky
French Fries and burgers
                  and hot dogs for you
Make everybody
                 know just what to do

Oh, how I long for
          the scent of Summer’s day

Premium MemberPrecious and Few

my new adidas running shoes
blue bell bottom jeans
soft pink angora sweater
and ribbon in my hair

a stroke of blue shadow on my eyes
touch of blush on the cheekbones
perfume cachet smelling pretty
rushing out to the school dance

I’ll hang out at the punchbowl
I’ve got my heart set on a beau
he’s been flirting with me
in chemistry class all year

there’s nothing I’d like better
than to dance the whole night long
and hear him call me sweetheart
as I can hardly breathe

and the band will play their rendition
of the magical hit ‘Precious and Few’
fondly close under dimmest of lights
maybe just maybe we’ll get to steal a kiss

Question

a typewriter has certain cachet
if owned by a writer with sway,
will a PC go down that way,
once it’s had its day?

Everyone Is a Stranger

A mangled mind struggles to decipher
A lonely world...in darkness of Alzheimer.
Like million stars in unknown cosmic space
neurons quiver million jumbled thoughts.
Tangled nerves in a white vellum
reflect faded echoes of false screams.
Hallucinating a nightmare in piecemeal,
a befuddled ship sails in foggy emotions.

Eyes that played like a cheerful squirrel
now blink nonchalant, staring faraway
Smiles that broke in boisterous laughter,
now mute a tomorrow in tone of yesterday.
Old albums of yellowed photographs
now a blackboard erased of dusty memories.
In labyrinth of 'Who am I' and 'Who are they'?
cachet of names dwindle forgotten stories.
A wonderment of familiar faces all around,
He keeps getting... Lost... and... Found.
He looks and looks...longer and longer
Knows not why...everyone looks a stranger.

All Are Arms In War

All stones are arms in war.

A day in my tutelage,
In my father's corn-field,
I stood as Oranyan's plinth;
I heard the lion roar:
Why are you a statue son?

“My sickle Sir, I stuttered”.

"Strike now and don't be still,
All stones are arms in war;
Strike and be somewhere son".

So with my goatee beard,
In the Land, my pot was denied,
Should I be still as another hay?
His voice came like echo's wave :

"Strike now and don't be still;
All stones are arms in war;
Strike and be somewhere son".

So I applied the brawl of age
And became the city roustabout.
But the Father’s kingdom came
When gourd was given a chance
To give an account of the pot.
Now the head relieves the brawl.

Knock, knock; who is there?

“The throne has a cachet for you”.

So I look in retrospect
And wish to tell you, my son:

Strike now and don't be still,
All stones are arms in war;
Strike and be somewhere son.
The royal will post the Laurel.

Premium MemberWinter's Cachet

november skies are grey
the sun has gone away
the cold is here to stay

fireplaces aglow today
marshmallows to flambé
winter reminds us of its cachet

gearing up for a grand holiday
lights and sparkles on display
jolly carols play mirthfully

festive bells all in array
riding in on a sleigh
for a lovely movie matinee

warmest wishes to convey
for a perfect christmas day

Premium MemberSecret Hideout

There is a view that sets me free
The mere thought of it soothes my heart
When I encounter glum ennui
My mind conjures it up as art
It’s my safe hideout
Be night or day

It’s a haven whereto I flee
Attributes I couldn’t possibly impart
No matter how moving may be your plea
The mystery is pivotal in part
Its awesome cachet
A fresh bouquet

Premium MemberCheerio As They Say

It seems like yesterday
It was Valentine’s Day
We met at a café
My hair in disarray
He guessed I was fair play
Capriciously I said no way
Yet saw a certain cachet
So didn’t race away

When the skies turned blue grey
Raincheck for that sundae
We both took the subway
Agreed to meet Tuesday
Since I don’t play croquet
We saw a matinee
Tried kissing me midway
Thought it was his birthday
One might suspect foul play
But there was no replay
Or attempt at foreplay
Soon met every day
And became fiancé
Not one to go half way
When came our wedding day
Ordered a DuBonnet
Then threw my bouquet
Sped along the freeway
Craving our getaway
Honeymooned in Gaspé
Forgot my negligee
Then off to Santa Fe
Met our sommelier
Glasses of chardonnay
Cheerio as they say
Now baby on the way
Due next Valentine’s Day

Opening night at the downtown bar ~
   Aficionado of ageless apparel
   Blushing barmaid beauty in blue
   Captivating chatty confidente
   Damsel dabbling in deception

Opulent night at the uptown ballet ~
   Absurd amorous allusions
   Barefoot breathless ballerina
   Charismatic celestial cachet
   Dubious deceitful dissonance
