I am asking all ages this question. How many of you like computer games? I'm 77 and I like Mahjong and Solitary. Mahjong is very straight forward and is something you can do without thinking, which is a plus for me. I do not see any down side to Mahjong. Computer solitary though, is another matter. I swear the game is playing me instead of me playing it. The computer keeps "running stats" for the game, and if you are a newbie and you start off winning, you will accumulate an average score which may be 80 or 90 percent wins. However, the game is programmed to get you hooked and then take your average down to 70 percent and stay there. The program helps you all it can, but will not let your average stay above about 70 per cent. The game plays you instead of you playing the game. I do not like the way that makes me feel so I have stopped playing it, unless I am just killing time, and do not care if I win or lose.
I like a game that is a real challenge, but is on the up and up. This game knows which cards are in your hand and it knows what card it will turn up depending on what you play. Sad, because it could be programmed to be totally random. It knows the outcome of the game before you even play it. How many of you have noticed this?
