Well, Here I Am, I Think
I think!
I’m still all me.
I have all my fingers and toes
but God only knows what else.
I see myself.
I like the “who” of me.
No, I don’t dwell on what I’ve been.
In times when
I was a lesser self.
I improve
I learn, I reach;
and if the chance, I try to teach.
But, what the heck, there’s
nothing to lose.
How long?
Till they nail the box shut
and sing as they lower me down,
“Lord plant his feet on higher ground”
