Young of Mind and Heart
Often, I have said to others in retrospect,
That my mind was just as fresh as the day I was born.
Why then does my body seem so old and derelict?
Does it have to be so ragged and worn?
I have no answer after long years of thought.
There might be some difference, were not for the fact,
Wind, rain and sun have often been fought.
And the pain of strain also got into the act.
I remember these thoughts many times over.
As I changed and aged time again on the outside
My minds eye focused not playing the rover
Quietly settled and not one to berate or chide.
