Light a Candle

N ever again will the Tribes of Israel be the sacrificial lamb of man.
A nnealed in furnaces not in Olam HaEmet by the Almighty "the World of Truth."
Z ealots rose from the ashes of the ovens and now defend like Sicarii of old.
I srael blooms and grows in the desert, returned by Allied Forces to the cauldron.
H ome to the Holy Land, sent, shipped, caste surrounded by Arab foe, isolated.
O vens melted their hearts, striped their forms for their souls held no intrinsic value.
L ampshades and shoes made from their skin, jewelry from the gold in their teeth.
O rders given by The Third Reich obeyed without conscious. The herd was culled.
C hrist-killer the Christian mind said, devil worshiper, their deaths were acceptable.
A nti-Semitism always has been and always will be a threat to Jews everywhere.
U nited, Jews must form a majority in Israel, so Jews everywhere feel safe.
S anctuary will never again being denied, Israel will be safe haven from persecution.
T o a future where all men have worth regardless of race, creed or religion, pray.

Stories of Israel have always interested me, from the Biblical account of Abraham to the modern day persecution. This poem shows the sadness of their situation. Hopefully it makes a difference for the better.

Hi Debbie - This is brilliant and chilling. Genocide of any group of people is immoral. So sad...and what happened to those people should never be forgotten. Your poem is a respectful tribute. - Gail

Debbie; This is very good. It is also educational, because in this time and age a lot of people don't know about this. It is sad. Thanks for sharing and i will pray for them. Have a great day. Lucilla

Debbie, first you requested a 6 line poem on Light. Send me your email or other method I should get it to you. Your Light a candle is a marvelous reminder of the wrongs wrought upon the Jews. I pray for them daily that God will protect them and help them to always be pleasing in His eyes.

An extremely touching poem. Tyranny never prospers. Your poem is an account of chequered history. I didn't know some facts like 'lampshade and shoes' untill I read it in your poem. My faith is that the followers of Prophet Moses cannot be anihilated. Thanks for your very kind comments on my Tanka Naive Heart, Debbie. My wife says it does not befit me to write romantic poetry at my age. I am in a dilema. -Mohammad

I have come to realize that my replies may not have been getting through to you so I am attempting a different route . After reading your poetry, I felt humbled by your talents, ( feel as you have expressed ) knowledge and portrayal of your thoughts, feelings and experiences. If I was a quitter – looking at my stuff in comparison – I would have closed the book on my efforts. So my Dear, know that I am, and have been most grateful for your comments, but as a teacher, mentor, professor, one who enlightens “ Thanks for the lesson! ” NOT in this life time! Love Bill.

Hello Debbie : You are so kind to let me know how you feel about my stuff. Soon I will be calling it poetry, if I continue to receive such praise. I know not what I do, or how to do it, it just comes from a place, I have know idea exists or what part of this or other universe it is derived. It just arrives on silent wings and speaks from my finger tips, used to be, flowed from my pen. Which is where all the recent - 2006 / 2007 -

entries are being transposed from, along with all the entries in REPETITION Two sides to The never ending story - I am unable to let end - OF A well educated, upper class, POLISH PRINCESS, A real Beauty, and that of an uneducated, low class, unintelligent, Canadian derelict. A Frog! Follow the journey of these two in poetry and prose. Much of, is from the perception /perspective of the Frog. The Princess has provided very little information. A lot of insight though. Light & Love Bill.
