Wishful Thinking Poems

Premium MemberFaith and Hope

Faith demands we hope for
What cannot be true;
Hope insists we believe
In what will never be.

They are trickster twins
Commanding our allegiance,
Wishing us disappointment, despair and oblivion.
I prefer to trust my wits, sight and a little love.

Wishful Thinking

I don't wanna be
a wannabe no more
waiting for opportunity
to come a'knocking
on my open door
and the day she does
tho' the lights are on
there's no one home
as I'll probably be
out to lunch
knowing me
so I wanna see
'Been there, done that!'
on my resumé because
I'm oh-so tired
of being a never-was

Premium MemberI coulda written that song, Purple Rain

I coulda written that song, “Purple Rain.”
It didn’t take that big of a brain.
And I coulda written that song “Hotel California.”
But girl - I do wanna warn ya!
I’ve always been considered at least halfway insane.

It's the New Year's boom
with colored fireworks lauding,
the toast of the town.
The proud, old guard has vanished,
with its dreams, yet unvanquished.

Hues light the plum night;
'midst crash and bang in the skies.
Starry-eyed moon glows.
The past's still following me,
but only in memory.

Wishful Thinking

Glancing around,
All that I see,
Is 10,000 people,
Nothing like me.

Stuck in a rat race,
With their lofty goals,
Pushing forward,
Ignoring the tolls.

So many victims,
Of their blind trek,
Trampled underfoot,
Left in a wreck.

The sacrificial lambs,
All lead to the slaughter,
Just so they can make,
One more extra dollar.

Am I truly without purpose?
Or do I simply perceive,
The most of the people,
Are completely deceived.

Do

King of wishful thinking

A beautiful new love song.

King of wishful thinking
By Michelle Morris
20/01/2024

I'm the king of wishful thinking
Dreaming that I could make you mine
The king of wishful thinking
Dreaming about you all the time

I'm the king of wishful thinking
I guess I'll just love you from afar
The king of wishful thinking
Forever a lonely, lonely star

My eyes try to look away
My

I sit with my feet touching the water
fascinated by a playful otter
near the river's edge, amid evergreens,
rolling along the sapphire surface sheens.

Swimming up and down propelling itself
enlightening up on a bare rock shelf.
Scattered green dwarf saplings I sit and spy
capricious. Once again and it's good-bye.

A breath, filled with, bluebells, lavender bell
blooms bright and lovely, I

Tossing on my rocking chair,
In pitch sable dark of the night,
Where no stars shimmer in the sky,
Waiting for the early morning light.
The bay window is clean, with a wide scene.
Would the day reveal a land with woods so green?

Occasionally the moon penetrates
The heavy rainy murky clouds,
As moonbeams glimmer over oceans.
Happy the dead dispersed of

Wishful Thinking

I wish people would take the time to appreciate details, the way the sun looks in the morning,
the way the trees change color,
the breeze on a cool day,
the way the moon looks at night

Everything is so beautiful yet I feel so trapped

I wish I could become the change in seasons
I wish

I'd like to walk once more on a pristine shore
And feel the morning sun caress my face.
I'd like to smell the crisp, clean, salty air,
Feel playful ocean breezes rustling through my hair,
And should storm clouds dare to gather there,
I'd laugh out loud at those scowling clouds,
Throw off my shroud of solitude and revel in the

Wishful Thinking

If only,
If only,
If only,

Such words
Such words are repeated daily
As ordinary people grow unhappy
With the world,
With others,
And with themselves,

“If only they would just understand,
If only I had acted more intelligently,
If only this had never happened,
If only I were given the chance,
If only they had allowed me,
If only I ever had the courage,
If only the world were

Wishful Thinking

If one can see beauty everywhere
If one can find light in their despair

If one can find strength when they are weak
If at one's lowest they still find a peak

If one with many losses can still see a gain
If one feels a love through all of their pain

If one can find calm in a life of
