oh no
what is that caught in my beard?
a chocolate chip and some salsa dip
winter woolly coats and a herd of goats
seaside rocks and a pair of stripy socks
a large corn husk and a double decker bus
a day oh a day feeling very very weird
but how did all that get caught in my beard?
You gave it 6 years
Just not meant to be
You shed zero tears
But what about me
A nerdy, know it all
Reminds me of dad
But damnit, I love him
He’s family, not fad
It took me some time
To warm to his ways
Accepting his rhyme
Unique style of play
He was so very weird
But weird became good
His intentions clear
He stood where he stood
He was never ashamed
And that, I respect
At times he seemed lame
Now that I, Reflect
But, here at the end
Imperfections are moot
We welcomed him in
His weird, became cute
I don’t want to do this
To lose my dear brother
I resent who comes next
I wish for no other
How can I be friends
With a home wrecking lad
I’m tired of new trends
I loved what we had
The man in the elevator looked old and frail
He held a dog without a tail
The man held the dog so tight
It seemed as though the dog would bite
A liitle boy who was standing by
Opened his mouth wide and started to cry
A kind schoolgirl felt very sad
For the now screaming little lad
She was chewing bubblegum and gave some to the little one
Into the lift came a man who looked very weird
With dreadlocks, tattoos and a matted beard
A posh-looking woman held her hanky to her nose
She had a whiff of the odd-looking man, I suppose
At last, everyone in the elevator got out
Except for the old, frail man
All was part of a plan
He lifted his tailless dog into the elevator
And with a shout, he said, "Going up"
The lift gently ascended
I saw a young man and a pup
Hi Charlie
I do not write much at all these days. I saw your contest and I wanted to give it a try.
I realised after writing it that it was too long. I must read the instructions more carefully. It made me write. I enjoyed doing it. Thank You. I hope all is well with you.
Take care (Old Duck)
Last night I was a somnambulist.
I strolled about in a snowy white mist,
then took to swinging on a branch
that I found upon our 3-acre ranch.
I told my dad, it was very weird.
He said it was the strangest thing he'd heard.
I replied, "I'll snap out of it and clear my head".
I woke up to find it was a dream instead.
Nicely penned poems are very rare to be adored.
The brilliant wisdom expressed through words is always being ignored.
People care less about sharing what poets want to convey.
They care more about the issues of others; have much more things to say.
A rhyme royal poem is nothing compared to a Facebook meme.
A disdained Dizain is more silent than a Twitter’s scream.
And so my folks will give you thumbs up for a cleavage post.
They get more a thousand hearts than a magnificently written prose.
If poetry can only flabbergast the world once again and trend,
Its words can be passed through ages and transcend.
For what is worth to listen and read is a literary masterpiece.
Not to mention my neighbor who shares rumors online; I never get peace.
If all that is going on in the media can be transposed to poetry,
It would make books of elegies and dramatic monologues in my country.
But I can sense the people’s loss of interest; many poems are ignored.
Nicely penned poems are very rare to be adored.
Note: I always feel that my friends on social media have no care at all about poems that I posted. I don't know but I just find things really very weird.
You are so very weird
Your weirdness shines true
There are so very few,
Who are weirder than you.
You see, weirdness is relative
Weirdness is wacky
But the right kind of weirdness
Makes true weirdos happy
If you were not weird
Well that would be weird
Weirder than the fact
That weirdness is feared
COCKROACH LOVERS
Mind:
If: you ever come across a cockroach lover, avoid them like mad
They are either so very weird or very desperately lonely and sad
Indiana Shaw . . . ; )
Humans are the strangest creatures on the planet
Able to create the most amazing structures and gadgets
Yet we seem destined to destroy
With war-like tactics we employ
What is wrong with this picture, very weird habits
Way back, we had a bicycle club
We put cards in the spokes for noise
In a town named Independence
But started by "Wichita" boys
Pat and Mike, the Adams brothers
Named after Irish born humor
Were thought to be influenced by that
Or at least, that was the rumor
Timmy was the first to marry
His wife could be sis to his ma
I don't know what to make of that
But I guess Freud would say, "Ah hah!"
Chris could hit anything with a rock
Amazing at such a long ways
We never ever, saw Chris miss
Not even on the holidays!
Our route always started the same
But one day there was a new view
Of a pretty nurse we called "Legs"
Going to work, I guess, who knew?
We told a new guy about "Legs"
We said, "No one can resist her!"
Well I guess, the joke was on us
It turned out to be his sister!
Later I had a very weird wreck
That would cause all my buddies to scoff
I was stung on the back of my neck
At the same time, my front wheel fell off!
Though my pride took quite a pounding
The bee sting only hurt a bit
I jumped up and dusted off quick
Just glad "Legs" wasn't there to see it!

A mischievous chef known as McMurray
For a joke put Epsom salts in the curry
The toilet door he did lock
The customers were in shock
He left by the back door in a great hurry.
An astronomer by the name of Pete
Was perving at the lady cross the street
Full moon he did spy
But not in the sky
He got caught and went as white as a sheet.
There was a dodgy plumber called John Blake
No plumbing skills was a bit of a fake
The wrong nut he undone
Panicked went on the run
Now downstairs of the house has its own lake.
A randy teacher called Fred O'Hare
With a young girl he had an affair
But she told her dad
Who went hopping mad
Now Fred is getting medical care .
There was a very weird poet from Bude
Loved to sit out writing verse in the nude
A wasp stung his manhood
Screamed out as you would
Doc said that's what you get for being rude .
It's not fair,
when people say,
I'm very weird,
just because I'm gay.
I am not dumb,
don't go telling lies,
Don't judge me 'cause I'm blonde,
open up your eyes.
I am not weak,
just because i'm a 'she,'
I can be tough and very strong,
just like any 'he.'
Don't avoid me in the halls,
or treat me like an old sack.
You have no reason to hate me,
just because I'm black.
I can help too,
don't discriminate me.
I may be very young,
but I'm helpful, you'll see.
I may have lived longer,
I may have a longer page.
Don't judge an old book,
just because of it's age.
You have no reason to hate,
just leave me be.
I have feelings too,
let me, be me.
The Mill wheel wouldn't turn until the Spring;
the blast of Winter's cold cased it in ice.
Its mighty power adjourned by season's chill
and useless now, it rests until the thaw.
A blizzard piled the snow in massive drifts
that made for good, steep sledding near the Mill.
But children spotted something very weird...
some stains of red beneath the melted snow.
Whispers ran through the town from door to door
that blood was seen on snow beside the Mill,
and some reported howls of wolves at night
that echoed from the river where it stood.
Mid-March, as early Spring softened the ice,
the men arrived to start the Mill's old wheel.
The sluice was jammed with a small fishing boat!
Ice melts...revealing secrets the wheel creaks.

The rat looked at me with pink eyes and said:
'Hey, it's me, can't you see? I'm not really dead!'
I was ready to shoo but then checked my stride,
it hadn't been that long ago since you died.
I shooed anyway and the rat scurried off,
of this reincarnation lark - I'd had enough,
once you're gone, you're gone, leave things alone,
instead of shaking, like a dog with a bone.
You were lucky you were here at all, maybe unlucky,
look what you had to endure - even meeting me;
I turned to go inside before any other apparitions appeared,
let's face it chaps, this life of ours was very weird.
Maybe when we get into the next 'plan,' we can get rid of:
intransigence, rogue dictators, death and the elephant god.
Phil’s caveman look is very weird
He really should shave off his beard
His mother is right
He looks a strange sight
The Neanderthal look’s to be feared!
Since December Phil’s been hirsute
He needs to give his beard a boot
He’ll cut it off in the sink
But his mum won’t cause a stink
Cos without it he looks real cute!

When I was reading Mr. Poe,
I noticed that many of his poems,
Have something more in common,
They're all full of woes and problems!

The other day I was reading Mr. Edgar Allan Poe,
When I noticed that something was really wrong,
When he wrote his famous "Raven" poem,
His bird repeated himself far too long!

I was reciting Mr.Poe,
To my class, when I saw that his crow,
Was talking back really slow,
So I told him just to go!

When I was researching Mr. Allan Poe,
I observed something very weird,
It was that his silly crow,
Was really a very stupid BIRD!!!
