Premium MemberI Love Small Boxed Faces

Soupers often engage in emotional ways.
There can be depth in what two might exchange.
When someone leaves our shared Soup domain,
their diminished light is a missed, valued sight.
Some remarks feel like word-shaped embraces
and time together often leaves valued traces.
Is is not odd, just plain strange, as well as an ache
that Soup relationships are both close and remote?

I have missed your small-boxed faces,
your writes and presence on my pages.

I wonder if other soup pals also ponder
the restrictions our bonds form under.

I recall the joys of our hellos and ‘getting to knows’
But ‘byes and why-gone words’ are silent blows.

It must be a new age emotional feeling
      the internet brought into being
            so people everywhere could connect.
                           Dog-gone-it, doesn’t connect
                                     sound inept?

May You Know That You Are Valued

Inspired by a moving storyline in a show.

May you know that you are valued
By Michelle Morris
15/06/2023

I wanted to pass on something
From my childhood memories
But all that I had left
Was sad feelings and broken dreams

Everything that I loved
Was destroyed or tossed away
Burned bridges and toys
Scorched emotions and betrayal

So, what do I have to give you?
What legacy do I pass on today?
How to be a better man?
When I'm still learning this with age?

I hope that you will feel
That you are truly loved and understood
That you'll be inspired and uplifted
By everything I say and do

For having hopes and dreams
Feeling loved and cared about
Having a place to call home
Is precious without a doubt

May you look back with joy
Feelings of warmth and happiness
May you know that you are valued
For being your own true self

Premium MemberA Valued Member of the Family

Let me tell you a story….

About a year loving pet named big red,
I still can’t believe he’s dead.

He was such a wonderful dog,
He wasn’t a bump on a log.

He was my protector and friend,
My love for him will never end.

Everyone in the neighborhood,
adored him too, he was good.

I cried when he got hit by a car,
his passing left a gigantic scar.

Dad buried him and in our backyard,
everyone in the family took it hard.

He wasn’t just a pet, he was my brother,
we had the same father and mother.

I will always cherish him in my heart,
for he my heart right from the start.

Valued

Worth living

Giving, caring, loving, joyful

Valued like a large diamond

Meaningful, precious jewels

Time of renewals

Valued.

Priceless, taken for granted

Everlasting, gifted

Valued.

A Cheap Watch and a Cake

You sell yourself for money
Hour lunch two coffee breaks
To punch a card at 5pm
For a cheap watch and a cake
You live on autopilot
A zombie for the pay
Make copies, staple papers
Day, after day, after day
You think you're irreplaceable
Never make it without you
But if you dropped dead on the floor
They'd step right over you
And when your time is over
They blow up some balloons
Toast you with some Diet Sprite
Goodbye they're done with you
Tell me was it worth it?
Did it bring you any joy?
Did you trade your soul, your dreams
To be gainfully employed?
Were you ever happy
Or was it lies , just fake
Do you wish your life was more
Than a cheap watch and a cake?

Premium MemberA Valued Gift

Since World War II, I’ve traveled the world,
Seeing many countries both near and far.
I started in the States where my eyes were unfurled,
Being kept in pockets and in many a jar.

Right off the press, I started out crisp and new.
I was cut from the others and soon put into play.
After the War, I became one of the few
That were tossed in a jar for a rainy day.

Then, I was given to a very young boy.
It was his eighth birthday and he seemed so happy.
He got a wonderful car from a man named Roy.
It was his mother’s ill father, his dear old grandpappy.

When he opened up the card and saw me there,
He knew he was loved by someone so much.
Right away, he knew how to spend me, and where;
In a toy machine with lots of prizes and such.

He wrapped up the toy that he won on his own,
And had his parents help him address the letter.
When it got to his grandpappy, he opened it alone.
He was touched by the gift, and felt so much better.

Later that week, I was taken from the machine,
And the cashier noticed that I was very old.
He gave me to his son, who was only thirteen,
And this began my next journey, to be later told.

Valued

You are the beauty that l see
The modulation of my feet and the rapture of my heart.
You bring out the divine in me
making me the finest wine of all times

When you molded me
You chose four words to define me,
Beauty, brains, perseverance and hard-work
You played the tune on the piano that
seized, sizzled and grizzled my soul
I fear not no man, events or words
Because only you make my knees bow down

l will not fear the pressures of time, youth and society
Because you created me for a greater purpose
l am a girl with a spiritual father who loves me
Beyond the eyes of man and the tongues of my enemies

He lifts me higher and never down
Realizing my worth and potential and telling me softly
l created you to be the Master of your universe

Premium Member'valued Grace'

I did not know where I would end up
This journey has been one of self-discovery
One of self-love
A journey where the obstacles
That seemed insurmountable
Became stepping stones

I prayed for things I didn't need
Only to discover they weren't meant for me
I get to appreciate the little things
Instead of waiting on the big things to happen
Today I value having family
Many don't have that privilege
I value a hug from a friend
Many wish for it all their lives
I value the smile from a stranger
I value a child that screams my name
Just to say “hello”
My journey is not finish yet
But I value all it’s been
Hurt, fear, worry
It's all part of life

I thank God for the opportunity to still feel
I value the grace bestowed
Everyday

Valued Riches Part 2

From rags to riches come money and “*****es”, thus leaving values buried in the past.

The tombstone reads “there lies integrity and morals”, they all tend to die around the same
fiscal year; tax season. Greetings! To big checks with no longevity. We buy new shoes,
a new purse, rocks and rings. Bills are overdue, guess you can’t pay for everything. There’s
always next year, struggle ‘til then; oppress yourself. Got to love that rest assured happiness
for the moment all for our valued riches.

Valued Riches Part 1

Greed is gold compounded together to make slaves out of souls. What a surprising use of an
element. Charted to appeal, to tear down human inhibition. We throw money in wells wishing
for more; an industrious scheme, selling misty water-colored dreams giving our fantasies life.
But they die shortly after when realizing you’re not born with a white privilege. Like me, you
never tasted a silver spoon and spit out gold or green; money’s choice of color. Silver coins and
copper pennies neither are proper fit for society’s idea on wealth. Not even worth a few for
America’s health. I say anything made from the Earth should be plentiful and the gluttony
would no longer be needed; no class hierarchy, only people of valued riches.

Valued Friends

Of the ones not known
Dedication starts
Those who ask nothing
Though do very much
Just the small details

Compassionate
So devoted
In general
Just living life

Stepping up
One favor
With no catch

These are
Valued

Friends

Valued Treasures

The things in life that mean the most,
Can’t be bought or sold, I boast.

Freely given from ones heart,
Is what sets these gifts apart.

Love and kindness can’t be bought,
These valued treasures are widely sought.

Giving of yourself only helps you grow,
It’s God’s intention don’t you know?

Be a friend to those in need,
Don’t let your heart be filled with greed.

Helping others really helps you too,
So set good examples in all you do.

Money or friendship if I were given a choice,
Friendship would win for money has no voice.

Earthly possessions are merely that,
When the final day comes who gets the cat?

So love your neighbor but not his wares,
Be someone with values who really cares.
