Premium Member Staying Afloat

¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ dream, ¦¦¦ all through life,
¦¦¦¦¦¦ up ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ through toil and strife.
Afloat ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ before ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ colored ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ skies:
The storm-cloud dark
Above ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦
The calm ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ blue
¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ hopeful hue,
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ passing beam—
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ labored ¦¦¦¦ and failed at last,
¦¦¦ sails too weak to bear ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ raging tempests ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ sent ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ astray.
But ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦
For wind or sea!
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ "The tempest will ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ come to port."
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ through every cloud a ¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ dream.

(Blackout of He Had His Dream by Paul Laurence Dunbar)

Premium Member It's Getting Dark

It's getting dark
Still I can see,
As I embark
On this journey

Take me where you will, I say
Take me where you will,
It's best I do not stay
Behind this lowly hill

The moon resides there
On the other side,
Beaming light so fair
Away from where I hide

The stars, they drop
As I look their way,
About the hilltop
And still... I stay

On this journey
As I embark,
Still I can see
It's getting dark.

Staying in

They begin sipping then supping the Best on cask

Charlie the legend of the barley does a guest ask

What are you up to for the rest of the weekend?

Well regulars would often become a good friend

With a big grin..they swig & say…not a lot mate

Won’t go far…in the offing a spot of bar mat flipping

Will be here till late relishing & cherishing your beer

Gags & chinwags spin laughing gear quaffing just staying in…

Premium Member Staying in Touch

Make the plans
How it will go
No frills, no fuss
Just straight boho
The only thing
I want to do
Is kiss the bride
We both know who

Of course I know,
It's standard song
But see I want
To kiss her long
And taste her smile
With both my lips
While grazing skin
With fingertips

Premium Member The Perils Of Staying Power

How’s your finger?
                            How’s your rib?
These are words I don’t ad lib

How’s your backache?
                         How’s your knee?
Would you read this, I can’t see

Pass the sugar, no, best not
Off my meds now, I forgot!

Where’s the salt, oh, yes I know
Hid it, so it wouldn’t show

I can make it, park the car
Twenty feet, that’s not too far!

Vitamins?, I just took two!
Love to eat but I can’t chew

Perils of a ripe old age
     Spiced by memories and sage

None-the-less, I’m here to stay
Hope at least for one more day!

Premium Member STAYING YOUNG AT HEART

May we be blessed as we age
before this world it’s our time to depart…
that the wrinkles which inevitably find their way upon our skin
never find their way into our heart.

Premium Member Staying Up, Not Down

My emotions spinning around
My world's turned upside down.

I'm out of control
Confusion rules my soul.

Agony is reaching it's highest peak
My voice cracks, when I try to speak

As the storm makes the wind spin around and around
Inside my mind, I feel like I'm going to drown.

The torture that's filling my brain
Make my eyes flow like a river drain.

Concede to the past and stop wasting time
Engulfing my heart with a piece of mind.

Thanking God for the passion of love
Celebrating my life, like a flying dove.

Oh America

Oh America, America, how much you have changed.

From Washington to Trump, we've all been estranged,

Wars over freedom, then rights, whatever it may be,

Just remember "We the people" are a forever family.

Times of terror and shock, had us all scared,

But because of support and love, you showed that we care.

The countries that despise you, and try to make you fall,

We, together, remember the line "And justice for all"

Staying One Stop Ahead

Cool
grandson
is unmoved
by convention.
Place has no value
except as it connects
to young imagination.
My elf ladders are not missing;
Spiderman and Robin need a bridge
to cross the creek that runs under 'Cool's' bed.

There are no buildings there to climb upon.
One busy mind fixated on need
ingenuity moves forward.
He is now outside; I see
my garden hose inside
arched thru a window.
One speedy shove
stays 'Cool's' creek
from its
course.

I AM STAYING

I can' keep moving
Not because I have no strength
But doing it for my health
I can just keep on begging

I feel like to stop
To sink into silence
But I have to get you to the top
For you to advance

So I am staying
Though it is not easy, but forgiving
Moving is not my priority
I do not go for majority

Premium Member Triumphant While Staying Low

"A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit." Proverbs 29:23 of the King James Bible

Aspiring for achievement glow
That vanquishes painful defeat’s shadow
Arrogance stands at loftiness gate for a show
While selfishness glitters midst jewel of hypocrite’s woe…
Oh, proud human nature, needs heaven blow
To mutter need for divine blessing flow
And be triumphant, staying low.

Premium Member Staying Put

I have no plans to go away
As long as you don't, here I'll stay
But if you do then I will too
The reason why I'm here is you
I hate to think a day's in store
When I won't see you anymore
So I'll just take it day by day
And make no plans to go away
