I'm almost disappointed
when
the pot of tea is
off the stove.
I forgot
her.
She stands next to me,
unconvinced.
I step aside
and let her
weep and wail.
She's here
for a few more days
and I will
figure this out.
She was sick
for years.

Eye contact is
grey and clear.
I don't hear
screaming...
then
two small children
fidget
and speak in
fortifying walls...
and then
my lips are parched
and I can't swallow.
I marvel at them,
like two white doves
waiting to take flight.
I tilt my head
to see
flesh
and bone
and ash.

He shakes his head
against the linoleum.
I watch him rinse his mug
with my eyes closed
before the sound of the mug
shatters into pieces
just like the occasion.
I stare at him for a moment,
a ghost.
I thought I heard him
raise his eyebrows.
I just dropped my head.
"You're not real. You're dead."

She collected
his every phrase
like an assortment
of antiques.
She realized
she could also
sort them by date.

** if you like, you can check my blog about this, thanks :)
a gray day
Rain falls
so pleasant
WIND blows
so meek
Come
home
at
last
Hiding the past
Live fully
See the CENTER of what must be
Then do it.
