LISTEN to the wind as it softy blows,
so soft it can barely be felt as I write.
As I find gentle words for my pen to write with,
words filled with love and peace for my reader.

Birds whisper their songs,
Gliding across the silence, 
Growing hope in the soul

Birds rise and rise and rise
Reassuring the spirit of life,
Stirring grace who lasts evermore

Birds croon and leave gentle joy
Beyond the shadows, before
Each hope brings us its glory

Birds, thriving, abiding, surviving
Tell their stories in crooning’s,
Gentlest voices, blessed, reassuring

Birds, in shades of blue, softest yellow
Brilliant red

Voices In My Head

Inexplicably silent in choir
being unusually quiet
not a word from me was heard
neither spoken nor sung
so as not to cause a riot
when jibes bad vibes at me were slung
and I was asked, 'Cat got your tongue?'
I replied, 'Here's the thing,
really and truly, I cannot sing,
it's been this way for all my years,
whatever it is I appear

In the deep silence of the night, when the stars sing their longing for light

In the deep silence of the night, when the stars sing their longing for light,
I find myself floating among the shadows of unfulfilled dreams, lost.
Breath becomes an esoteric rhythm, an incantation of life and death,
While my mind whispers like an echo from forgotten depths: breathe.

Summer stares, graceful
as the quiet chirps
birdsong, let’s sing along…
joy unfolding, on wings
listening for His voice
in the heart, the soul, anyplace

growing old, while the summer
restores the heart, the soul
breaking out in sweats of golden
sunlight, bursting from the heat
melodies so sweet…

gently playing against the ache
of a silent knowing, 
His love unfolding, like a distant 
star, reflecting all
