“What do you see?”
A simple inquiry
requiring
            A not so simple response

For I do not see
With my eyes alone
They are but a portal
To the insanity
Of a mind’s interpretation
A wilting flower
Lying beside a sleeping kitten

Perhaps a subtler inquest
“what does a painting stir in you?”
And “why”…”How”
Does a wilting flower
Lying beside a sleeping kitten
Reach through crusted paint
To hold you spellbound

The Winds Of Conflict

The winds of Conflict blow until the raging floods come
then stop suddenly to occasionally creep up with more mischief
and trouble only to be quieted by the air of calm

The waters of peace cover the roads and yards of villages
requiring everyone to either stay home or travel in boats of
                             remorse and rafts of guilt

But the Divine Father sends peace and comfort to all
evaporating the waters and cooling the heat of hate as
it lingers then blowing it away

Sometimes the clouds of misfortune and false information
circle around then continue coming to only be occasionally
accepted like chocolate berries but other times rejected like
                         a raw steak

Premium Member for a breath of fresh air

intent by itself is action complete
requiring no portrayal in space-time
but if we wish to live through each bliss beat
and feel each nuance of love’s sublime chime
we must don a form and conjure a rhyme

whilst self-aware poised in meditation

USEFUL EULOGY

When she entered a room
To visit with her folks
Rather than ask about well-being
Her immediate labor they invoked

He brought them a gift
One he had labored for so long
Rather than be grateful and amazed
They asked him to go mow the lawn

She acquired accommodation
Through a connection by chance
Rather than rejoicing for independence
They worked on without a second glance

He was awarded a professional prize
Requiring a community feast
Rather than attending with pride
They saw him as feeding the beast

This is the end of obscurity
Where identity has no respect or seat
We choose to know and love self
As we release all the dirt caked on our feet

Premium Member Go With God

Sent out with a mission;
Embraced with a assignment;

Running through the forest;
Tracking through the valley;

Discovering a boarded cave;
Traversed through a tunnel;

Stumbling upon a hilly place;
Climbing a mountain;

Feeling a lot like a race;
Requiring a ton of grace.

Premium Member Simplicity

Big complex words often disguise
how good design begins at the nitty-gritty,
with clarity, accuracy, and precision,
pointing straight at the essential core idea.

It is not endless conceptualizing,
brainstorming, strategizing, or theorizing,
stacking abstractions upon frameworks
until the original purpose dissolves.

Strangely, the path toward simplicity
often means wandering through complexity first,
through failed attempts, diversions, and revisions
slowly stripping the unnecessary away.

Every trial removes another layer,
clearing noise from the heart of the problem,
until only the kernel remains—
often requiring the courage to start anew.

In the end, simplicity is not pure genius.
But a disciplined understanding made explicit;
nothing left to add, nothing left to remove—
Simplicity is elegance in design in retrospect.

Premium Member Zen mode

flowing with ease, mode embrace and release
consciousness leaves behind no residue
free from desire, no demons to appease
heart delights as bliss beats within renew
wherein each rapture hue is felt as new
requiring then thus nothing to be done
resplendent in our light like yonder sun

performance over presence

some people attend church
with no godly intent
they see the worship service
as a red carpet event
decked out in their finest
from head to toe
preening like they're the stars
in the Hollywood show
no true concept of what
praising God is all about
these are the ones who would have caused
the stones to cry out
performance over presence
what they failed to understand
is that we come here to honor
and give praise to the Son of Man

no way of comprehending
that we're spiritually transcending
an inability to see
how to be spiritually free

to worship Christ is to show
adoration and reverence
it's not a live show requiring
a stage presence
to acknowledge God is to submit
your will and your life
and to understand your Divine purpose is
to acquiesce to the Lord Christ
performance over presence
what they failed to discover and discern
is that there is freedom in Christ,
a lifestyle true believers have learned

Premium Member THE NARROW ROAD OF FEAR

Like the small bird in the garden tree
Its world full of startles, alarms, and fear
Its predators all around and ever present
The pulsing of the cat’s paw is always there

On the narrow human road of human fear
Satan’s demons and half humans are always near
Requiring constant vigilance to keep terrors at bay
From the shadows and darkness and death of the day

Angel’s and saint’s hearts always beat fast
Navigating the narrow road of fear
Listening and watching alert to all those who pass
Keeping God’s protective presence ever focused and clear

Premium Member I live by

I live by love, as I live by food
I anatomize my days,
weeding my time
to invest in him.

So I may love better.
For as heaven hath sent me fortune
heaven hath sent me love also
and it’s no counterfeit success.

He knows me - my moods -
when I’m dispos'd to be merry
or as the windy sky changes
and my mood's turned to scorn.

When we're in tune
we come, peremptory,
as if for dinner
to our more giddy desires

for I live for that love
as I live by food.

blueprints

you feel like home
but not the kind
that leaves a spare key.
yours is a house in progress
with half-painted walls
a lockbox on the front door
a basement wrapped in drop-cloth.
to most
the mess means hazards.
danger.
but to me
messy simply means
human.
I’ve walked the grand
unfinished halls
with no map
no plan
but curiosity
and faith
that I can explore.
the spaces seem to whisper
with possibility.
some doors I’ve come upon
reveal beautiful rooms.
others stay locked
requiring keys that I don’t yet have.
when I sit on the porch at night
letting the breeze brush my face
watching fireflies dance
I’m close enough
to feel the warmth
through the shutters.
I never know
quite when to enter
and yet
I keep returning
because
even in construction
the foundation feels safe
and I want to see the blueprints
unfurl into something
I might belong to
someday.

Premium Member A positive spin

There are different ways to interpret reality:
rose-coloured-glasses wins over the pessimist.
Why throw a dark shroud over day-to-day
there’s really nothing to gain ~
a smile always prevails over the frown.

Your outlook affects your mood
and your mood’s what measures your happiness.
Lightheartedness will always win in the end:
seeing the good side is an art,
it’s a skill that improves with practice.
It doesn’t take long to come naturally
once you start reaping the implicit benefits.

It’s a well kept secret
better than any magical spell ~
think good thoughts even if they’re fantasy.
Your heart is a garden requiring weeding ~
nurture the flowers and attract the sun.
