I live by
I live by love, as I live by food
I anatomize my days,
weeding my time
to invest in him.
So I may love better.
For as heaven hath sent me fortune
heaven hath sent me love also
and it’s no counterfeit success.
He knows me - my moods -
when I’m dispos'd to be merry
or as the windy sky changes
and my mood's turned to scorn.
When we're in tune
we come, peremptory,
as if for dinner
to our more giddy desires
for I live for that love
as I live by food.
