Sewers are strewn with corpses of carrots,
nectarine skulls and peach sloughs
fermenting in the arteries of cities.
The gutters gargle with grape entrails,
mango marrow, and the pulp of privilege
nourishing the bloated bellies of bins.
The concrete congeals with tomato stains
squished coriander and the puree of parsley
nurturing the mildew that murals the walls.
The pipes pulse with dairy despair,
lactose laments and souring milk memories
sustaining fat-lined steel bowels
The dumpsters groan with crushed caviar
sprawled sushi and weeping wagyu
feeding the fungus that froths metal maw.
The Gut lords, gluttonous and godlike,
swallow civilization in silver spoonfuls,
excreting empires into rusted cisterns.
HERE’S TO YOU, PUMPKIN PIE!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
the morning sun rises high and bright
pumpkin pie for breakfast—oh, what a delight!
the crust is flaky, the filling so sweet,
cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger—what a treat!.
I take a bite, and oh, such heavenly bliss,
the flavors meld, a culinary kiss.
the pumpkin puree, its spices swirl
flow with whipped cream, a dream for this ol’ girl.
so let the critics say, "Pie for breakfast? No way!"
I'll take a slice, come what may.
so here's to you, dear pumpkin pie.
I don’t care if you go straight to my thighs.
Il existe une confiture de myrtilles,
Ne parlons pas de la succulente confitures de mûres,
De la marmelade d’oranges, de la confiture de rhubarbe,
Il existe des confitures rouges, des confitures vertes,
Une parenthèse exquise, la compote de pommes,
Il existe de la confiture de prunes, de reine claude,
De la confiture de poires, ou de fruits d’automne
La confiture de fraises que tout le monde adore,
La purée de marrons, la confiture de cassis,
La confiture de framboises, du petit sureau,
Et d’autres confitures de mangues ou de coings,
L’important dans la vie, c’est de toutes les goûter,
Pas d’en choisir une.
There is a blueberry jam,
Let’s not talk about the succulent blackberry jam,
Orange marmalade, rhubarb jam,
There are red jams, green jams,
An exquisite parenthesis, the apple compote,
There is jam of plums, of queen claude,
Pear jam, or autumn fruit
The strawberry jam that everyone loves,
Chestnut puree, blackcurrant jam,
Raspberry jam, elderberry,
And other mango or quince jam,
The important thing in life is to taste all,
Not to choose one.
Gooey, gooey treats
Filled with strawberry puree,
All laid out upon
Bowls of vanilla ice cream,
Topped with sundae cherries.
Giant red sea urchins piled high on a dock.
Still live, their spines wave, beckoning me.
Soon to be processed as haute cuisine stock,
Then sent to Japan to make roe puree.
It is sad to see these poor little guys.
They move with intention to find the Sea.
Too bad that their taste tends to tantalize
The overall fondness for good sushi.
Gone are their days of clearing the algae,
Which urchins eat, and coral reefs protect.
Next time you take a bite of that sushi,
Consider how food and Nature connect.
The aristocratic Martian delicately kissed her hand
She blushed, as only an alabaster Venetian can
He ushered into his supersonic cab
Endearing himself with a superlative gift of gab
Away the two flew to an obscure galaxy
They dined on poached protoplasm and astral puree
But when it was time to pick up the tab
The aristocrat -- no gentleman he -- said shockingly
No work, no play, even dogs don’t stray
And you can forget your paltry pay
Off to the supermarket by half past five
An early start might keep you alive
Buying things, you never bought before,
Hang on Madge, let’s get thirty more.
A difficult time for a shopping spree
No need to fret we’re in it together
I bought a mask of pure black leather
No good for the virus but what the heck
