Pig Skin
(NFL)
September 17th, 1920
Canton Ohio City
January 15th, 1967
Very first Super Bowl
Green Bay Packers (won)
Kansas City Chiefs
It’s another football season in September
Rugged pig skin
Noisy crowds
Everyone is over paid
But it’s always entertaining
Beyond greed
Who’s your favorite team?
Everyone's always being traded
Don’t forget to buy some beer
Watch the game from home
No Crowd No Chaos
Start on the 50 yard line
Everyone is on their feet
Touch down
What about those Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders
Don’t forget snacks and hot dogs
Serpents, scorpions, owls,
Swingers, stingers, wise old gals,
Dogs, bones, bow wow wows,
Paws, purrs, cat's meows.
Canines, felines, feral creatures,
Headlines, deadlines, double features,
Ping, pong, pink expressions,
Sing, song, apprehensions.
Sows, cows, milk-bag givers,
Scaredy-cats and chicken livers,
Porky pigs and truffle treasures,
Dorky wigs and other pleasures.
Polywogs and rollie pollies,
Gollygogs and holly holies,
Ice cream trucks and cone packers,
Dumb clucks and silly quackers.
Gritty Kitty, kitty litter,
Nitwitty babysitter,
Baby bottles, bubble slumbers,
Rubber baby buggy bumpers.
All around are funny creatures,
Rabbit Ears and bunny features,
Serpents, scorpions, and owls,
Trick-or-treaters call them pals.
Running back
Do running back do?
Ha! I Caught ball
Come O’ Kansas, come can’t wait
To catch me yet
Ball caught, clutch against my chest
I run the ball a brisk running back receive,
Handoffs from run the ball.
Catch passes Kansas (catch me) if you can
I runnin to ya… running back

Of winning their first game
But they exited tame ~
Green Bay Packers turned them into whipped cream
The grass is greener where you water it

The grass is greener where you water it
That's where it will keep on growing
It always seems so obvious
That we assume this sense of knowing
But often we forget
That the simplest actions count
By taking one step each day
We can move forward in our lives
The grass is greener where you water it
It's greener 'cos you did the work
You paid attention and made an effort
Put actions to your thoughts
So, don't be looking
So far to the other side
Thinking it'll be so much better
If you aren't prepared to pay the price
The grass is greener where you water it
Consistent action every day
It's lush and bright, and beautiful
Because you gave it your best play
Make the time and effort
Give it everything you've got
And one day you'll look back
And appreciate your growth

~ Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers football team. Quoted in a motivational communication from Reid Tracy at Hay House.
Cave Kellers and Dig Wellers
David J Walker
Christians that go to hell
will have one
Hell of a story to tell
In the
Nick of time but no place to
Dwell among tent dwellers the
Cave kellers the dig
Wellers the rhyme
Travelers the street
Sellers and day
Sailors the night
Failures the pay
Traders the flesh
Peddlers the time
Piddlers the mind
Benders the fence
Minders the prime
Lenders the crime
Numbers the prince
Paupers the door
Stoppers the bargain
Shoppers the grass
Hoppers old teeny
Boppers and hogg
Sloppers with chart
Toppers and good
Coppers and hoola-
Hoopers and party
Poopers and hot
Peppers and self
Checkers and fat
Backers with back
Packers of heart
Stoppers and flip
Floppers and hot
Flappers and splish
Splashers and party
Crashers and hot
es and bad
Bastards
Christians that go to hell
will have no one to blame
in the hottest of flame
But one hell of a story
to tell
10,000
The cows are all dead.
They died in the heat,
or so they said.
I feel sorry for the cows,
but more sorry for the farmers,
the ranchers,
the processors,
the packers,
the truckers,
the factory works,
the wholesale and retail people...
The store,
the grocery workers,
the meat men, (the butchers)
and you...
me...
us.
In two years...
twenty-two food-related companies,
have been burned up,
burned down,
flooded out,
and hit by planes.
Yes,
two planes.
Two different sites.
When I used to stay with my grandmother,
in the hot summers of Arizona...
It was hard to go outside at times.
She bought me books to read,
and paint by number... color sets.
It did not take long to see,
if you used all the right shades,
in the right order...
that pigment does not lie.
There was a pattern. (always)
Even at six,
it was plain to see.
Things are much clearer than before,
there is evil at the door.
Time to get breakfast to start this
day.
With a piña colada shake and I am
off~riding on my Poetry Highway.
Ah! Add fresh California orange
slices to this delight.
That citrus scent keeps my pen
moving, both day and night.
I have already commented, my first
thing daily to do.
Just reading and escaping, it's far too
easy, and I heartily eschew!
Later comes football, the Packers versus
the San Francisco 49ers.
I hope the Packers do win and give them
great big shiners!

Thank You for this hot and black liquid
Steaming from my crockery mug;
And the Love that warms my hands;
Thank You for the brown skin men and women
Of the sun, singing with other tongues;
Who plant dark seeds and anxiously wait for rain,
And slash the green stalks and peal the beans.
I hear the splashing of sea’s waters by ships.
And sailors manning ropes.
I hear plopping of sacks onto wooden docks;
Then truckers singing country songs along the highway.
In all kinds of weather.
Thank You for designers and packers of
“Paper or Plastic” or cans, and the man
Who determined the cost.
Thank You for this hot mug of coffee,
That is warming up my hands.
These Electric cars are so expensive
I found these old one and redid it
To bring a smile back to me
The parents could not afford $400.00
This was a little boy's dream
When I finished it he road it he went round and round
The joy I felt cannot compare
To any I have ever felt
The Green Bay Packers was his favorite team
Morning funeral
He was eighty-six
Ready to go, angry about everything.
Tired of being here, irritated he cannot drive any more
Thrilled to go, probably driving a race car in heaven
Green Bay Packers fan
Black and white photo of him at age 3 or 4.
Probably the only one taken until his wedding photo
Murmur amongst the spectators
His widow has arrived with her wheelchair and oxygen tank.
People shuffle, making space.
She is much thinner than her photo,
Looks half her size.
Sweet lady. She is sitting six feet from his body
Not being able to see him at all, too low.
Some knucklehead had placed a dirty block of
Make-believe cheese on the welcome table with the photos.
Not understanding anything about the Packers, I disposed of it
For them. Thinking some street bum had placed it there, playing a joke.
This is me, sneaking it back out of the garbage, trying to nonchalantly
Sneak it back onto the table with the other mementos. How did I know the
Green Bay Packers are called the “cheese heads”?
Sometimes I can be a bit too helpful.
I leave this Earth with a toast and a wink.
Seems just last week I played with rocks and sticks.
I have had the best of it all, I think.
We won a world war when I was just six.
I saw Elvis sing with an attitude -
The Packers were the best that ever played.
Then Marilyn just laughed when she got nude,
And the Beatles came and just stayed and stayed.
Frank Sinatra sang and young girls would swoon,
The world still seemed new and so funny and free,
Then we sent astronauts clear to the moon.
And I was glad that the world still had me.
So I tip my hat and bid you adieu
For I had the best of it all I think.
As I shuffle off with an old "soft shoe",
Can't help but give you a toast and a wink!

I'm sorry for the Steelers fans
(My sister and her spouse)
For disappointment must now rule
Their beings and their house.
The Packers fans are sad as well,
So close but no cigar,
A pity to be unsuccessful
Having come so far.
I really couldn't care which teams
Are Super Bowl contending,
But I'm delighted that the
Football season will be ending!
