On my Depression - My memoirs with the jackfruit tree in the backyard

Here grows a jackfruit tree in my office’s backyard
I wish to share a memoir of my life, which was marred by depression
It was just a sapling when I had joined duty
We both forged our respective journeys into the wild.

Having started flourishing in its own way
The sapling developed branches and started bearing fruit.
In contrast, my life started shrinking with depression
Following a negative trend and became messy
With people around me considering me a burden

Having had a roller-coaster journey of living
I feel my journey to be worth narrating.
Wishing to relieve stress from someone feeling depressed
I dare to share some of my experiences coping with depression.

Prior to dealing with depression and its resolution
I just want to let you have a glimpse of my journey.
The jackfruit possesses an outer spiky peel and an inner sweet pulp
Some people who seem negative on the surface, like the jackfruit peel,
are sweet inside, like its pulp
To some extent, this holds good for me too.

Having been a topper during my school and college days
I had always been under immense pressure to perform.

Premium Member writing verse

Two years ago,I was encouraged by some friends
and also by my wife
To write some memoirs,
some description of events in my life

Two hundred hand written pages
in two years, since this project began
Since self discovery that I was capable of writing verse,
for six months the memoirs have sat idle, I compile poetry as quickly as I can

With this new poetic skill I am still able,
to record the aims of the memoirs, but in a precised form
Poetry I feel, provides a non confrontational platform,
when one wants to present controversial opinions, that deviate from the norm

I am regarded as an elder and I hope the definition,
includes wisdom not just age, I still wish to remain open and continue to learn
In the hope I am able to assist others
an objective, I never will adjourn

Premium Member Memoirs

I go back there all the time
        in my mind when awake
        in my dreams when asleep

They say, ‘You can’t go back’
(so) I lurk unseen, in shadows
         a not-so-innocent bystander

     inspecting scenes for authenticity
     re-directing them, providing elasticity
        rewarding poignancy with canonicity

Perhaps you wonder what it’s like
to review the span of a rich lifetime
             I’ll let you know
             ~ go back there first

Friendship Memoirs

Friendship is like the night star
Even though we are thousands of miles apart,
We still share the sweet and the bitter.

That pink cloud in the Western sky
Reminds me of my friends abroad
Whose hope keeps burning for family's belly.

Remember them your friend is better
To write the message in pen and paper
Or call them one day for greetings.

Friends are heirloom of your secret wish
Always hoping, wishing one day you meet
Celebrate friendship with food and talks.

                                               warm
                                            safe place
                                        out of the cold,
                                   with all you might
                                need to have to hold.
                          Each frame, each shelf, reflects
who you are. A moving sculpture of your
memoirs. It's walls and floors absorb every
voice... each wail or cry, and every time we
rejoice. In the still and quiet the dark sighs
and the echo of a thousand footsteps go by.
And yet ... and yet, If the roof caved in and
the walls fell down, in my memories are
these same ghostly sounds. It is in the hand
my child holds and the stories my husband
has told. Our home is so dear to us but always
within, our temple of blood and bone and skin.

Premium Member Yellow Sand Memoirs

Setting sun desert
Hot skies are blooming colors!
It's orange and red,
with the pink and lilac sprays-
and floating, creamy bouquets.

Blue stars are coming
searching for deep green they missed,
near to crescent moon.
Tall cacti salute the stars
midst swirled, yellow sand memoirs.

Premium Member The Song Of A Poet

It is a poet who sings
It's a writer who tells
His stories.

It is an author who expresses himself
He is a speaker of the highest esteems
Who review the sad memoirs.

He is a brave man who externalizes himself
It is a poet who analyzes
Actions, fictions and facts.

It's a brother who fights
It's a soldier in the middle of a proxy war
Who preaches harmony, love and peace.

Premium Member If Only I Could for Mothering Sunday

I'd visit you in heaven if I could
With a bouquet of roses, yes I would
Celestial beauty of music I'd play
For you mother on this your special day.

I'd write a poem to your heart from mine
To say I love you, and will for all time
For all that you did with kindness and mirth
To me you were the best mother on earth.

I'd climb the highway to heaven for you
Do anything that you wanted me to
If it meant I could be there beside you
To celebrate this day together, we two.

I'd pour us a glass of sparkling champagne
As we relive our memories again
Then dance by the light of silvery night
And greet the man in the moon in space flight.

I'd give you hugs in your home far away
If I could, I would for you mom today.

Premium Member Forest's Memoirs

On the forest’s edge, colorful blooms thrive,
Startling my spirit, wakening my thirst,
For more than just a glimpse so I’ll survive,
Mystery of pines, laurels so well versed.

Trembling within me, a heartfelt prayer,
Dreaming of fate beyond this quiet path,
Kissing back the dew from soft dawn’s affair,
Seeing the urgency of twilight’s wrath.

While sun breathes out a trail of frothy vines,
Caressing the soul with its gentling song,
Pouring out hope that her blessing defines,
Crooning peace, lingering her whole lifelong.

Forest reveals silence who reflects stars,
While shadows will write the forest’s memoirs.

Premium Member Memoirs of a Serial Killer

There's always a whisper of madness,
playing in my brain as I struggle to get
loose from it's refrain and the constant
pounding me to comply makes me feel
quite insane.

Disaster brewing behind blue eyes
bits of chaos that won't be denied.
They tell me the choice is completely
mine but they don't see or feel how
I'm bound up inside.

Touch the people and watch them fall
knowing the horror to come, the pull
to cause pain, is the worse of all. I'm
the bad man says the song, but they
don't really know bad, no, not all.

Premium Member Memoirs of a Ballerina

The tempoed, palpitations of my tender, young girl’s heart.
As the velvet, thick stage curtains swished opened and did part.

The pin-drop stillness as we took our graceful, poised posititions.
Dance, of course, our first love and our life’s grand ambition.

Bejewlled heads, so gracefully bowed to the shining, wooden floor,
Fuschia ballet shoes, pointed with grace at our families and the auditorium’s wecoming door.

Debussy’s haunting music began, “ The Afternoon of a Fawn”~
We rose with grace and whirled with applause, warm as August’s loving sun.

Premium Member Moonwalking Memoirs

I'm

the

white fog

layered on

gold-jasmine face of

the orange moon, shimmering with

shy starships and laced along hailstones of honesty;

When the sapphires of earth are etched with orchestral milky beams, smeared with ominous balms,

I want you to weave a cherry-crescent with periwinkle dreams and let aqua-pink amulets swing with gossamer threads of lotus-life,

which shall pull my sempiternal heartstrings, as frost of the last snow kisses the lunar orchards, twirling upon maroon ruins of moonwalking memories. I'll forever be that silver haze, lingering in your soul's seascapes.

High School Memoirs

Under the plastic stars that
Led us through adolescence
and I was less than
Heartbroken.

More like a dove was I
reaching for the sky
with friends no longer
present.

Transparency with our
Desires and hearts
We made offerings on the
Shore.

Into the forest
I retreat now for
Rest and connection
as the pine tree
Saved me.

Premium Member Teen Memoirs of Summer

That teen joy in a mirror to look,
And get my nose out of a book!
Tanned skin, ever so supple and soft .
Outside the window, an erotic sun aloft.

Waves lapping the shore of the lake,
Strawberry lipstick, tastes better than cake.
Her summer beau, stands waiting at the shore
With a necklace for her, she will love forever more.

Walks with him at night on gravel roads.
Grasshoppers in concert sing, and melodies by toads.
These eternal summers, live on so divine.
Still dance in her, forever-summer sublime!
