The lighthouse at Battery Point, Crescent City, CA

The lighthouse
alone on the hill
just a tree at its side
its beacon 
that light

It casts a long light
in a long blink
and then it's gone 
in a spin
to mark the shore within

It sits on its own island
only accessible on low tide
the path a bridge
mercurial moat that hides it

The building is lit at night
as well as its beam
presenting

LIGHTHOUSE IN THE STORM*

amidst the tempest,
a beacon stands unyielding,
guiding lost sailors

waves crash and thunder,
yet light pierces through the night,
hope against the dark

rocks loom, shadows dance,
with each flash, courage rekindles,
safe harbor awaits

The Lighthouse at Night

The lighthouse sits upon the desolate island shore
Slowly dilapidating as its pieces fall to the ocean floor 
Seagulls and ospreys have made it their coastal home
As it sits unsafe in a place most would never dare to roam

Once it’s nighttime its prism lights are rumored to turn on
Even though the original light bulbs are all

No Ships Tonight

The lighthouse hums beneath a ghostly sky,
fog bruises the restless sea's breath,
no ships will come tonight.

Like a lighthouse defying the darkness with an unwavering light

Like a lighthouse defying the darkness with an unwavering light,
I've grown accustomed to sleeping with my eyes open, watching the edge of dreams,
afraid of being surprised by the veil of silence that falls unexpectedly,
seeking to hold the reins of this ephemeral world between my fingers,
until the final blink whispers a call toward unknown realms.

In azure depths, her eyes reside
They gleam like sapphires, or a deep sea tide
They are like a hidden sea,
I get sucked in, but I know I would be free,

Her gaze though piercing,  was like a gentle oceans sway,
Whispering the memories of a forgotten summers day

A lighthouse stands firm,

Before the storm.

First to see its dark form,

The horizon no more.

Caustic clouds curl in,

The birds are now swarming,

Winds whirling, swirling,

Waves hurling towards,

It's solid foundation.

A warning of it's invasion,

Signaling its activation.

Standing tall before it all,

Shining a silent call,

A lighthouse refuses to fall.

Confidently embracing the Squall,

As harsh rains beat down the walls.

Let's be eachothers light house
Let's walk hand in hand through this journey of life
Let's dive deep into the ocean and see where it's takes us
Climb the highest mountain 
Screaming we did it 
If you ever feel like your lost I will shine my light and guide you back to me

160 Steps to the Lighthouse

A scary scene did  all them greet
the steamer crew one day,
no keepers did they see or meet
not touched, the room, did lay.

3 blackbirds watched the crew as climb,
to top of steps in cold.
The clock had stopped it's very chime,
the table food was old.

A bird in cage was still alive,
3 keepers , not be seen.

BE LIKE A LIGHTHOUSE

May we all be blessed to be like a lighthouse
able to proved a light…a spark
there to help those in need
find their way out of the dark.

The Lament of the Lighthouse

No screeching seagulls circled around
The dilapidated forlorn lighthouse.
Its searchlight had long been broken,
A useless artifice for safety
Of ships that plied the ocean near.

The absence of seagulls indicated 
A severe storm was brewing fast.
The sky all around was sepulchral and dark.
All heavy with rain that began to fall
Slowly at first, then gaining fierce force.

In the dark, in the fog, in the storms, the light blinks
Blessings of warnings cast to keep people safe
Rocky cliffs wait like predators, for harmful collision
But. with every blink of light a person is blessed
Attentive vision will always come to the rescue
Only when you are willing to see what is there

Prisoner of the enigmatic sea,
standing alone upon the rocky shore.
Once it illuminated the horizons,
now abandoned, it watches as waves roar.
Powerful winds influence the current,
as the atmosphere perspires salty air.
In conjunction the ocean joins the storm,
raging tides dance with malevolent flair.
Tempest terrorizes with wild fury,
flooding lands, demolishing weak buildings.
Animals suffer with fishermen lost,
