Twenty years ago this month I was in Enid A. Haupt Garden, a manicured
garden surrounded by two rows of saucer magnolia trees. The magnolious
large, cup shaped flowers showcasing breathtaking display of white or
pinkish-purple petals with outer petals of darker shade of pink or purple.
The petals, thick, soft and velvety scattered on the ground and benches.
I was swept away by the pleasant fragrance and captivated by the scent, a
combination of sweet, floral and slightly citrusy. A fragrance so noticeable
for the scent wafted through the garden, creating a pleasing aroma, like a
sweet lemony candy. Unforgettable! When will I see and smell them again?

sun’s
cascade
high spirits
trees on a hill
live lemony leaves
untroubled by darkness
inconsequential small world
worries pandering to the depths
the forest too bright and blithe to cry
hallelujah mount leads to heaven's gate

[Verse]
Fourteen years old
So I am told
Lately, she really shows it
Except at meals
She barks and squeals
The time? It’s like she knows it
[Verse]
She sleeps all day
Then wants to play
Before the sun has come up
What frustrates most?
Deaf as a post
So she can’t hear my shut up!
[Chorus]
Oh, Lemony! You are a mess
You are so lazy
Oh, Lemony! I must confess
You drive me crazy
[Verse]
She’s a strange girl
I want to hurl
The things she’s always eating
Beware in case
She licks your face
It is her way of greeting
[Verse]
Twelve hours straight
It’s pretty great
From dawn to dusk, just doing nothing
At night of course
Barks herself hoarse
Then eats the sofa stuffing
[Chorus]
Oh, Lemony! You are a mess
You are so lazy
Oh, Lemony! I must confess
You drive me crazy
[Verse]
I know one day
She’ll pass away
And I won’t have this trouble
She makes me mad
But I’ll feel sad
And I will surely miss her snuggles
[Chorus]
Oh, Lemony! You are a mess
You are so lazy
Oh, Lemony! I must confess
You drive me crazy
[End]

Alas when love has birthed itself
Under the star kisses of a lofting sky
Luminous glittering streams
From the lavender moon
Swathed in orchids bloom
Billowing upon your face
In sheaves of gilded transient light
Its lemony shimmer of sweet cantaloupes
Perfumes the air around your skin
Embraced by the moment between us
As celestial heavens play its aria
Of moonstone melodies
Across the space between us
We speak with our eyes
Of the riant moon
Laced with the kingdom of stars
Aglow with the brilliance of us

I've lemony kiss, a sour clone
circus clown, edges down -- lips stuck
heart of stone, maroon, and alone,
mouth from cave's depths, bar muddy muck,
hands, feet, arms, legs ... their mind's are their own.

Down where
The glowing sun illuminates the eastern sky
Lemony daylilies open one more bloom
And the mockingbird's song rings true
Doves fly in to feed, too
Down where
The morn is quiet
Human activity still mostly void
Doves sing their love songs
Away, away they transport
Down where
No crows seem to call warnings
On this quiet morn
The poet wonders about Israel
And the Gaza strip war-torn
Down where
Rockets are fired
And antimissiles aim for their mark
How noisy their days and nights must be
How many miss their part
Down where
Questions go without answers
We have to trust the Divine plan is being fulfilled
The poet knows God still loves mankind
And desires mankind do His will

The whistling kettle calls to me.
Telling me it's time for tea
I grab my Tinkerbell mug off the shelf
As I try to decide what to have for myself
What flavor of brew should I steep into my cup?
Lemony and citrusy?
Minty and refreshing?
Earthy and nutty?
Fruity and floral?
Settling with vanilla spice,
A steamy waterfall
A hint of honey
To sweeten the pot
The sweet aroma rose up
Smelling sugary and sweet.
Cupping the potion
Raising it to my lips
Taking small sips
I felt the warmth
Course through my veins.
Washing away the stress
Replacing it with bliss
Like my mind is at a spa
Bathing in a hot spring.
For a moment, time froze.
The world stands still.
Embracing the peace
Brought by a cup of tea.

When dawn drifts into enchanted meadows
I flow in the dreams to where the sun glows
prepares for lark sounds tethered to thistles
sprout winged feathers distinguished initials
daybreak cast expressed suppressions idles
a desired forenoon plaything thumbs fiddles

gleaning harvest spread the light of laughter
pigment spectrum goldenrod noon stretcher
spruced grasslands lemony sliding fetch her
droopy starlight strands dusk ruddy runner
sweetly evening brushed purplish lavender
midnight maiden bid moonwalkers strangely
twilight tone-down twinkle moon pies lightly

Yellow sunrise illuminates night sky
It chases darkness away to the west
Goldfinch sent in to feed by Adonai
Each morning, in so many ways, I'm blessed.
Yellow sun behind gray clouds, stillness looms
Will raindrops begin to fall 'pon the ground
Watering the garden, wash pollen, fumes
Clearing earth's air and all nature astound
No lemony peaks between the clouds' gray
There are no flaxen streaks within the blue
An eerie feel upon the air, dismays
Will unrestrained storm pass unhindered through
Yellow sunrise seems to predict no rain.
Prayers do protect us, those storms detain

You left at the first flicker of dawn
as the pioneering rays of Sun
diluted the chaotic dark of night
and the morass of words exchanged.
I would have, if not for my dead legs
followed, at least crawled
but you had gone before, and returned.
Dragging my cold body toward the switches
I should have considered you lost,
but time is an endless breeze
that blows over the ghosts of steam
avenging that which our tempers kill,
and leaving in its wake, just the regret
of those two words that needn't have been said.
I should have considered you lost
even as my stomach rumbled in angst,
silenced by the cool dread of the sight
of the idle lemony shade on the doorway
without a singular shadow to break it
nor even your voice to let me know
I shall have you with me tonight.

“The world is quiet here.” by Lemony Snicket.
I wish this poem to be quiet
soft and subtle like a whisper
read the lines delicately
as if you were tip-toeing around
imagine a soft cottony pillow
and your head laying down for a rest
or picture yourself holding a lady bug
and trying to listen to the soft noises she makes
now imagine unbroken silence
just the sound of your breathing
the complete opposite of burning hell
and the inferno that tortures troubled souls
imagine that place of happiness
and can you bring me there with you
I wish to be set free

It's the greatest ice-cream in the land,
the Knickerbocker Glory is regal and grand.
all the other ones are inferior and bland,
It's the Knickerbocker i'll devour with spoon in hand.
You can have your rum & raisin, vanilla or mint with choc-chips,
the Knickerbocker Glory is the only one to pass my lips.
Forget your strawberry, chocolate, served with flakes, syrup or dips,
I'm off to the hotel again, I love my Knickerbocker trips.
The Knickerbocker is glorious, it really is the best,
there's none comes close, it's better than the rest.
forget your banana, your bubblegum or lemony zest,
I'll only entertain the Knickerbocker Glory, that I will attest.
The Knickerbocker Glory is simply a visual sensation,
It's famous and loved across the whole nation.
The Knickerbocker Glory is voted #1 by the population,
It's Knickerbocker-glorious, the greatest ice-cream creation.
