DAILY GRATITUDE GLASSES AND A HOPEFUL HEART

Today the gratefulness I’m feeling
actually comes in two parts…
I’m grateful for the glasses I’ve worn since I was a child
and for being born with a hopeful heart…

Both of these work together in tandem…
helping me to see…
the multitude of miracles 
stretched out in front of me

Return of the Bird: Grandpa Dairies

The doctor told us,
“He doesn’t have long left to live”.
He could say that again, 
I already know,
So his voice to me is nothing but howling winds. 
Blowing angrily, 
Trying to devour my hopeful, 
‘Maybe-pointlessly-so’ grin. 

But really these are times we thought we’d grieve.

Sitting at the foot of his bed, 
Just staring like this feeling

I come not full, but open wide,
With hands unfurled quietly yearning.
Your vows fall like gentle rain--
Words that flow from wells unending!

Through the clouds silver-haired persist.

The lights are flashing, but girl, I’m stuck on you,
Like chasing fireflies, but you slip right through.
The fair’s spinning wild, but you’re the only thing I chase,
You act all cool, but I see that smile on your face.
Laughter fills the air, kids screaming loud,
But all I hear is you, standing out in the crowd.

Letting Go

Like sand held in my hand,
I know I squeezed too tight,
Grain by grain you will drift away,
And with wind take flight.

I'll keep my hands wide open,
I'm stepping to the side,
So when you look about you,
Your space is open wide.

Cozy Hour

Waking up in the middle of the night, 
heating the stove to make a pot full of tea. 
Oh, how this silence soothes and calms me. 
Looking over at the clock, it reads 11:11. 
Embers crackle softly in the fireplaces light, 
Settling into its warmth, everything feels just right. 
Over my shoulders, a blanket is

Hopeful mind

Time's gone, religion's in decline,
Why don't we care about this line?
Used by tyrants, the poor consider it fate,
Do they care about the poor's state?



The night of darkness started soon,
But still shining the brightest moon.
Tyrants swimming in a pool,
Poor watching, feeling cool


Different religions, different rules.
Poor confused, but they are fools.
Horror dreams, horror thoughts,
They are holding charity

BEAMING WITH HOPEFUL BLISS

Beaming with hopeful bliss
My heart faces challenges midst grace
As God assures triumph*
I claim against mocking doubt.

With varied tasks along different roles
My faith remains steadfast
Striving to fulfill assignments
I accept against attacking weariness.

Grateful for privilege to reach-out
My spirit persists, inspired by divine cheer
Sharing very best with zest
Prayerfully seeking for miracles
I expect against struggling commitment.

Maybe I will bloom

I’ve known the kind of cold 
that sinks into your ribs,
makes a home in your chest,
whispers that it will never leave.

I’ve felt nights stretch too long,
Lay awake with the weight of it all.
wondering if the ache would ever stop,
if I would ever feel like myself at all.
