Sonny Boy...fresh out of diapers
Ogled my iced tea
Gulped every last drop
Grinned like the Cheshire Cat
Yodeled a catchy tune
Blew me a kiss and waddled away
One hour later...
Tea-toter stinky, whipped out his winky
Tinkle, tinkle, little pee monster
Oops...Tee hee hee...WTF!
Missed everything but my wallet...guess better in my back pocket...than my hand!

After poem for "How Do I Love Thee?" by Elizabeth Barrett Browning
I offered you trust, an open door without locks, My heart lay exposed, vulnerable on the rocks.
You entered with a grin, words sweet as honey, But your exhale was ice, your caress felt phony.
You spoke of my glow, then left me in the dark, Filled my mouth with verse, but your questions missed the mark.
I poured truth in your glass, you gulped it down, Then smashed it to pieces, leaving me with a frown.
Your grin sang me to sleep, your gaze was a trap, You stripped me bare, wrapped in a spiritual wrap.
You cut deep where no looking glass could see, A chuckle laced with poison, from which I could not break free.
You embraced my hush, then made it howl, Left traces in my nights, making me scowl.
Now I walk with whispers you would not claim, Building self-worth from the leftovers of shame.
I grin like embers—cool and exact, I have learned the price of sweetness and tact.
So if you return to sample what is left, You will meet a girl who has swallowed her theft.

a green June bug came whirring,
to our living room~
my smart cat after playing,
gulped down this hapless victim.

A blue whale spied a Yankee clipper.
First, he used his tail to flip her.
He gulped her whole, and feeling chipper,
he closed his mouth with a zipper.

Inspired by the Onomatopoeia Contest (2024), sponsored by Emile Pinet.
Mid-day invaded my spirits with blah.
I sauntered the path to the coffee shop
and heard my friends blabbing on endlessly,
astir with the recent barista flop.
I swallowed a mouthful of latte,
gagged and gargled with an unwanted flush
of caramel nut crème tickling my throat.
It made my gustatory senses gush.
After much gurgling, I gulped and groaned,
spilling the foamy froth with a loud plop.
My spirits sizzled and snapped
with the luscious last loud drop.
Having quenched my fraudulent thirst
I selfishly, yet successfully, bashed
the doleful doldrums that attended me.
I hiccupped along home and crashed.

There was a young las
Who was addicted to drinking sugary soda sassafras
She gulped it all day
Made her small hips go away
As fat cells took over to stay

Farway near South pole,
The island got a hole.
A piece of ice fell in water,
It went away a meter.
The weather was humid
Trying hard and hard to get near
It was cursing about its did
Lying helpless trying with fear.
Sun just woke up,
It started melting down.
Forcing hard to stay still,
A wave gulped it until.

Sheila was careful about choosing lunch for his pet. It had to be colorful
and lively. He liked chasing them around his cage a few laps and feeling their
fear, before he gulped them down in one giant gulp. She looked over the mice.
One of them was particularly pretty, a caramel color. She chose him.
she fed jake live mice
he reveled in chasing them

Here are a few more Than-Bauk, where I have used a particular letter-sound instead of a rhyme on the 4th, 3rd, and 2nd syllables (lines 1,2,3) I find this to be a fun alternative to the limited rhyme version. Hope you enjoy. Let me know which ones you like.

I loved you.
I really did.
My poetry is about you
Your face so neatly carved into my brain I can draw you from memory.
You were the first to know how I felt
How you tugged at my heartstrings in a way so excruciatingly painful
I saw you through my rose coloured lenses and gulped down painkillers forgetting that you ever pained me.
You lead me on like one of your mindless pets
I would have died for you
If you told me you wanted them dead they'd be dead
If you told me you wanted me dead my last words would be yes sir.
I want to break from your grasp
Although the words you speak bring too much comfort
The way you look at me
The wonder in your eyes as if you never have seen my suffering or the way one could trip over themselves and sacrifice themselves as I for something like you
I scavenge for the love you once gave me
Trinkets that I keep in a box and at the bottom of my bag
Your love is a drug
My stash low
I crave for every bit of love you give me
It's a bad influence
My memory blurry
You make me sick.

In the glass of January, I found sanctuary,
A sip of new beginnings, a common melody.
Gulped down resolutions, though they proved fake,
Choked on cut ties, decisions to forsake.
A drag of Christmas songs, a nostalgic embrace,
Oops, it's almost April, time's swift chase.

The morning waited
for me to take my seat
on the foreshore bench to begin
its play, perform the piece
it had scripted just for me.
Opening
with a prelude of waves lifting
until gravity collapsed
their curling height and gulped
down their weight, and,
at stage right, rocks bursting
big watery bags of ocean
into exploding walls of foam.
Then there were magpies
holding chorus
in the nearby trees,
accompanying the moment
with an almost Elizabethan lilt
whilst seagulls hurled their
screeching taunts down
from the galleries above.
Little dogs went chasing balls
and children spun, unwinding
on wound up swings, bike riders
in black lycra passed in a blurr
and on a patch of lawn
beside the pavilion, three women
practicing tai chi.
And so the spectacle ran on
as if the morning was inventing
new sights and sounds
for the sake of drawing out time
to keep me captive in audience there,
the same as I used to do when,
as a child, I held concert
for my grandmother
on cold winter afternoons,
stagelit by a blazing fire
and love.

“Times have passed cheques (checks) are surpassed
We now have online banking. In my day
if they didn’t wanna pay, all you heard was The last line of this poem” ~~The Poet~~
Warned of the crocodile,
The tourists began to smile.
We will sunbath for a while.,
From Czechoslovakia he came.
Boris was his name.
The Frenchman was game.
Swimming in the river.
They saw two crocs sliver.
They began to quiver.
The biggest croc gulped.
Swallowed the tourist whole.
The next man met demise.
The crocks shot by locals.
Who had been searching.
They took the crocs skin.
And what they found.
Frenchman in the female croc.
And the Check was in the mail !!!

Desensitizing me—destroying my delusion.
Snapping sight of the kaleidoscopic illusion.
Delving into eternity of utopian ecstasy
Shimmering in an ethereal golden fantasy
Drifting inwards—yielding inner space.
Flamboyant with a nectarous embrace
Playing an intricate oboe of tenderness.
Drumming along to the tune of gentleness
Invigorating my soul—infusing my barren cup
Embraced me wholeheartedly the wassail up.
Sitting on grass, smelling delicious lavender.
Gulped divine ambrosia, wild or scavenger
Syncing wires up to my celestial essence
A haven where my bosom can quiescence
A tranquil haven where my spirit can soar.
A tranquil haven that my heart can't deplore.
A sanctuary where my soul can find peace.
Somewhere, my soul may relax and release.
Nothing can be concealed in my quiet spirit.
The whole day, one can both sense and hear it.

Loud guttural roar filled Steamboat Convention Hall
Stovetop hats rose up higher, and most were already tall.
The tiger made his entry with a loud snarl and a pounce.
Watch out! Someone yelled. I think this creature can bounce.
We ran out of the way, as fast as heavily-dressed convention goers can.
Tiger made a bounding leap and soon was shaking a trembling old man.
Don’t eat him! A girl in a pretty petticoat with a corset yelled out.
He gulped him down, after shaking him up, down and all about.
We did not see any blood, for the tiger ate every drop that he could.
I was running as fast as my legs would on this double treated oak wood.
The tiger was gaining on me, I could feel his breath on my neck.
I fell out of bed before I was eaten and I said “What the heck?”
