Mother's Safeguard In Heart

girl memories now gulped from too much air
I could not save you from feeling water
may a daughter's ashes be in sea's throb

the Diet Coke days, I knew who you loved
moments for awhile are in ocean fizz
I thought in your arms I would never drown

though not you turned your face from me within
strewn glass shingled there before me, and cut
kissie, kissie, my bare little pinkies

we sifted through sand for a chance above
the sandcastle we made sea fell over
disappointment slows to figure out waves

unknowing was I how you ward off storms
absolved eyes were blue enough together
an asylum's toll reached out, the buoy

I grew my two more feet after you left
salt tears only come when madness is past
your footprints making mine, between we share

may a daughter's ashes be in sea's throb
I cannot save you from feeling water
girl memories now gulped from too much air

As i read the ending sweet soul, i teared up! Sigh! How poignant and soul touching is this poem, and what impressed me the most is how youv painted imagery in such a vivid and creative manner! I felt this poem so deeply my poetic soul! I missed you! And i missed reading your authentic metaphors and poems! Pleasure visiting you today! Sending you light always.

This is excellent. Imagery and emotions intermingle. You wrote so beautifully.

your imagery captured pain and loss so eloquently. The last line 'grabbed my heart."

A profound tribute. I get the feeling from this poem, that she passed on. Very emotive, Paige

Dearest Paige, This is an incredibly moving piece of work. It feels like a "palingenesis", a rebirth through the very element that feels most threatening. As your friend, I feel the weight of every salt-stained syllable in this poem. There is a cyclical grief here that moves like the tide you’ve described. Winter Blessings, Dear Paige, Daniel

Oh my goodness, Paige ! How deep into the woods you went with this one. Outstanding imagery reflecting life’s pain, loss, darkness & light. A mother-daughter relationship is never easy, as it is embedded in deepest shadows & highest light ~ the female carries the ALL Manifesting. You’ve done the Mother Archetype justice with this one, Paige. I salute your blending of ashes, sea, air, unknowingness & madness. I trust your blender is still in tact for summer smoothies. Xxx

I am sure you are speaking of a love that once thrived, but now got broken up. We build sandcastles, but they are mercilessly swept away by the tides of adversities.
