A Paradise Sepulcher

A promise born, a life designed,
To emancipate, to break the bind.
But fate dealt blows, parents passed away,
Leaving her to shadows, in a world astray.

She sells her body, a living corpse,
A pretty face, a paradise sepulcher, a tragic force.
Uncertainty looms, her future unsure,
A womb evacuated, her soul obscure.

Loneliness creeps, a dejected soul,
Yearning for companionship, a heart that's whole.
"I need a child," she cries, "who'll stand by me?"
But all have fled, fearing disease's decree.

Meanwhile, he seeks to blend, to chill with the bold,
A "Jogolo" tagged, making women happy, but growing old.
He dupes and uses, but ends up used and worn,
A walking corpse, his life misled, his future torn.

Both lost, both alone, both searching for more,
Their lives a testament to the choices they've explored.
Yet, in desperation, she looks up to the skies,
Her maker stretches His hands, a rescue surprise.

Premium MemberAfter The Floods

Flash floods came in a sudden
After few hours of torrential rain
Villages in towns submerged
Water rose so high…surged.

People stayed on their roofs
Waited for rescuers holding faith and hope
Teams of rescuers came less than an hour
To save everyone with all their powers.

People evacuated in safer places
Government officials sent foods for days
Relief goods and help came from the cities
A unified effort and cooperation with love and peace.

After few days , water slowly subsided
Some went home, others were relocated
Clean and clear up programs were established
Clogged drainages and canals were all fixed.

Many volunteers, both young and adult
Cleaned and planted more trees for better result
 Proper waste disposal was implemented
Illegal logging and quarrying were strictly prohibited.

Rooming with the Young

We dwelt together,
one hand on a door handle.
Keeping rooms --- a semi-settled living,
parents still squatting in our heads,
rent due spaces,
red buses passing below or above,
according to what level we rose to.

Domestic wreckage evacuated,
a small venerable van stuffed to the gills,
and we with our books
bundled up in raffia rafts,
cats tucked under shawls or coats,
escaping loudly on red bumpy buses.

It is the little things that haunt:
a florescent green plastic handbag,
maroon stockings
draped over a lava lamp,
fluffy toy animals
scented with relationships.
Shades of lipstick on a cracked mirror
unwashed rugby shirts,
the soft tang of old spice aftershave,
vinyl albums revolving in our heads.
I recall it all ---- but no,

not wanting to dwell again with the young,
but to follow the routes of London buses
to past, departures and destinations,
to enter again
those rooms for penniless delinquents,

just to tidy up a little, and perhaps
close drawers and doors left open.

Posterity

Posterity

Adam, the man, was up early and stood on the terrace
his body was pale as the unborn sun
sitting on the low wall on the terrace, he evacuated
down to the roof of a neighbour.
Since he didn’t have paper, he wrote on the wall
“I shat here!”
Later, the woman who makes the breakfast and
clean the house came; an elderly maid, who had
seen it all.
While Adam was breakfasting came to the terrace
hosed down the offending words.
Adam’s pathetic attempts to be remembered for
posterity was in vain.

Premium MemberThe Terrifying Snowflake

An app on my phone says they’ll be snow tonight - we can expect .2 inches in New Haven. I can’t wait because where I come from snow is an event.

In Georgia, the mere suggestion of a snowflake in a weather report results in businesses closing, the freeway being blocked-off, and the entire city being evacuated.

Some poor, non-essential civil-servant is sent to his (or her) probable death in the cold, in order to try and startup the state’s single, neglected snowplow.

Reports of “snow” can provoke vicious, panic shopping for essentials, like Totino's Triple-Meat-Pizza-Rolls - known for keeping teenagers alive in weather-pocalypses.

As the snowflake is tracked-in by radar, wooden furniture is chopped up for strategic placement by the fireplace and beloved family pets are evaluated for their fur and nutritional values. Has Grandma really been pulling her weight lately?

These New Englanders seem completely nonplussed by snow, like republicans facing unnecessary death or the loss of American democracy. I think I’m going to video this.

Interesting fact: Snow actually falls from the sky. I know, it’s terrifying.

Cat In Sand Sitting and Shifting

cat on sand sitting
will go side to side shifting
system was sifting

when we took a tour
what we saw remained obscure
became complete blur

inspected pastor
voice would peel off the plaster
a complete disaster

had been in a click
together would always stick
wife is a cute chick

what seemed so scary
angle would always vary
so her must marry

had needed a perk
so became a soda jerk
when I went to work

I was a big jerk
in system had been a quirk
So became a clerk

we will wash each sheet
dry them off while using heat
next week did repeat

took trip to villa
with wife who is Priscila
met her in Manila

land desicrated
we were evacuated
after we waited

there was an earthquake
when the world would shake and break
while we bake a cake

was had to explain
rather then taking a train
at home will remain

To Holocaust Survivors In the Former Soviet Union

You worked so hard but just exist.
Your high school grad dates you just missed,
evacuated from Ukraine.

In Russia’s army to resist,
you fought the tyrant Hitler’s reign.
You worked so hard but just exist

on meager pensions. You subsist
by choosing food or meds, that’s plain.
No other kinfolks to assist

in taking care of you in midst
of tears and shakes of flashback strain,
you worked so hard but just exist!

Although you made your job’s A-list,
you now wear rags, your joints in pain,
no other kinfolks to assist.

Your teeth all gone, in life’s mean twist,
these lines remain your grim refrain:
You worked so hard but just exist,
no other kinfolks to assist.

Premium MemberWatching Wrestlemania With a Baptist

A chokeslam!
Goodnight sweet prince

Goodnight yawning hippo ****
With rice wine coming out your ears

Boom boom sticks
A wisecracker talking head

Histrionics at the bandstand
Eliminated by more than one can shake

Hospitalised due to a
Finishing move on the concrete

The poodle evacuated worldy goods
Outside the pizza restaurant

You left a cigarette on a bicycle seat
To show how gracious you were

Your toying entanglements
Left chairs being thrown

A Scotsman strangled
You with his no laughing matter arm

Tables, ladders and chairs
The human lounge, hairy stool and burger beds

Gape and keep a weather eye on
For those aha visions and afflatus

Our history teacher watched Smackdown
He said it's great theatre

Humans Shouldn'T Hate

Scraped walls
with graffiti all over them
Old house
with cardboard for its base
Abandoned backyards
devoid of flowers grace
Honey lit doors
with their damaged face
Shattered windows
without any breathing trace
Evacuated homes
all around this place
This dry ground
has seen bloodsheds
Those big rocks
have been someone's escape
This whole scene
is made 'cause of disdain
 this horrid event
screams humans shouldn't hate.

Premium MemberWildfire Season - Repost

Wildfire season - I inhale, and choke
On fiery air, try to blink away haze
But all the sunlight is full of smoke
Drizzling embers fall in a burning dose
Like stealthy predators, they come too close
Swallowing the land in a scarlet blaze
Leaving us homeless and broke

(this is a repost from a poem of mine from 2018 - I reposted it because the county in Oregon where I live is currently under a level 2 evacuation, which means 'be ready to leave on a moment's notice' - my niece and her family already evacuated. So this is more resonant to me today then when I first wrote it~)

Under a State of Emergency
         California Inferno

We thought 113 degrees was so bad?
Now people and pets have to run for their lives!
Whilst we sit cooly in out poetic
dives!
So absorbed in this community of
electronic society?

Looking out my window, seeing yellowed skies.
Full of smoke and debris,
Best stay indoors, highly advised.
Northern California, we are taking
a big hit!
Thanks to the fury of lightning, which dry brush
and trees took afiery hit.

Vacaville, Fairfield, Napa being evacuated.
It's frightening to be living here.
Once a free- thinking state that
I held so very dear.

To be in the middle of the virus
and people running for their lives,
Makes me want to take my cat,
a few things.
But, I ask..where is there to hide?
