Mourning Reflection

I picked up eclipse glasses, crumpled on the street
It caused the pause reflection brings when unlike minds should meet

With no regard we oft discard the fashion of the day
No cosmologic mirror, we hasten on our way

Same time the rhyme that is the pond, ornithologic splendor
Graced the sky there in my eye, sweet nature as its sender

Earlier a chance encounter prompted thoughts of scale
As I dodged a mounted fender fellow and lived to tell the tale

Perhaps because the Universe expands beyond our ken
We can't escape the breakneck pace that plagues the mass of men

I'm thankful now, at this remove, I did not join the glass
And stopped to think… and it's the key… to not let this thought pass

Premium MemberMOSQUITO MIKE

MOSQUITO MIKE
Just something a bit humorous on this hot summer day..

There once was a mosquito named Mike.
His buzzing and biting I did not like.
On my arm he found a place
     flitted and fluttered with grace.
I swatted at him with a handspike.

Mike dodged and weaved with carefree ease.
He feasted on my blood, what a sleaze.
He's a small creature, not grand,
Mosquito Mike, wings so weak and bland.
Caught him in my hand. OOOPS! Big squeeze.

Premium MemberTime's Up

Mom and Dad dodged the mid-July sun—
in the shaded pool, having such fun.
   Then their three little kids
    started blowing their lids:
”That’s OUR pool. Please go buy yourselves one!”

Lumbered

Early in a damp woodsman's camp
seeing sawyers from a logging town
to stop the conversation bogging down
as asked my age among other things
I replied, 'Cut off my head and count the rings,'
then had to be quick-witted and fast-footed
made a bee-line through the trees
so as not to lose my noggin
when a burly lumberjack grabbed his axe
I ducked and dodged his mighty swing
which (in a nonce) saved my bacon (and my bonce)
and them's the actual facts

Life Interrupted

I had a map, a steady pace,
A dream unfolding, full of grace.
The morning sun, the clear blue sky
Then came the silence, no goodbye.

One call, one truth, a single tear,
The life I knew slipped out of gear.
Plans unraveled, time stood still,
I faced the mountain, lost my will.

The laughter faded into mist,
Moments I barely knew I missed.
I held my breath through sleepless nights,
Wrestled shadows, dodged the light.

But in the stillness, something grew,
A softer strength, a clearer view.
Not all is gone when storms arise,
Some truths are only born from cries.

So here I stand, not where I planned,
But wiser now, with gentler hands.
Life interrupted, yes, it's true.
But I’m still here, becoming new.

Premium MemberMISS PIGGY

Miss piglet is at it again,
her blonde wigs, here we go,
her jealousy it always shows.

Her clothes are tight,
her lashes are glued,
she loves to fight and throwing her shoes.

Her claim to fame was loving a frog,
he thought she was crazy,
and away he dodged.

She loved her bon, bons
she guzzled her liquor,
her piggy temper flowed even quicker.

Her oinks and squeals,
her high heels,
her red lips and long piggy tail.

She always blamed him,
he was always wrong,
I somehow felt sorry for that poor little frog.

Premium MemberSummer storm

Strumming against rooftops
overlapping gutters
flooded sidewalks
summers heat brings intense storm
trees bow down
as if to shelter
the young and old from the storm
who have dodged fierce heavy drops
that heaven has sent
for earth to quench its thirst

Too Close To The Edge

“Stay in your lane and do not veer”
A warning that I’d always hear.
With guarded glances, signals shown,
I steered my way, no danger known.

But fate, it struck with sudden might,
Sideswiped, my world spun into night.
Grasping hard to steer the wheel,
Out of control, a new ordeal.

Flat tire, airless, veering wide,
No chance to steer or turn aside.
Brace for impact was my plan,
While drivers dodged my wild sedan.

On this road, my path askew,
Some slowed down, while others flew.
I rolled uphill until motion ceased
Then climbed from my vehicular beast.

No crash, no bang, just sudden still,
A quiet end to fate’s fierce will.
And in that calm, a thought took seed,
Perhaps the edge is what I need.

Over the edge, I found my way,
Not bound by rules, nor led astray.
In wild ride’s end, I saw it clear:
The edge I feared brought freedom near.

Premium MemberShopping Spree

This old madam bought a big Christmas tree,
size could be problem she did not foresee.
Low level door frame it hit,
on dewed lawn she let it sit.
She dodged mind’s radar while on shopping spree.

Premium MemberNever Lost

The palms whistled in the wind, as waves rolled onto shore
The path of moonlight shimmered, we wanted nothing more
We laughed as we dodged the moving water on the sand
Engaging smiles in the night, as you gently held my hand
We were free as each flying seagull, not missing a beat
We held each other in darkness, overcoming daylight heat
Then you reached down, picked up a seashell just for me
You looked at me and told me to hold it from this memory
        - I knew this was more than anything could cost -
              - For this love to eternity will never be lost -

Premium MemberONE DAY IN TIME

One day to Surrender
Heaven’s Kingdom for all to enter
Heart and Soul
Dismissal from Hate
Life’s wonders to appreciate
The time will come
Judgement all will succumb
A Spiritual voice will be in say
No connection and didn’t obey
You can’t enter Heaven this way
Your life didn’t fulfill my will
You dodged my truth
It started in your youth
I am the Almighty and you heard about me
You refused to understand and see
You followed your own understanding
One day you will have to make choose
Transform your ways
Think now while you have time
Let Heaven show you the way
One day, the hour, minute, second, moment could be the approach
No Joke
Hourglass steady pouring
Be ready and waiting
Anticipation
Soon reality
Watch for
The Lord’s galore for sure.

Premium MemberNobble Wobble

The cry of the turkey's gobble
left me in a cranky nobble
	so I could fall sleep
	no sound should he peep
stupefied, my head did wobble

armed with a hatchet in my hand
hoping a final blow to land
	he ran, zigged and zagged
	he dodged, jigged and jagged
I could not land the chop I planned

when at last my greatest chance came
though red-eyed, I took deadly aim
	my aim was way off
	the turkey did scoff
this Thanksgiving was turning lame

no turkey please, I’ll just abstain
my determination did wane
	sleep overrated
	ego deflated
bird became perpetual bane

Premium MemberIf the Shoe Fits

love is not Archie Bunker ~let his hatred stay in Hitler's bunker

when circumstances appear cruel in life you need not be cruel with them

a dodged serve, the ball is now long gone~a pond rife with many lost balls

a lie will soar throughout the land before truth wakes and gets out of bed

controlling ones diverticuli ~should control shouting from poop shoot

attention seekers turn your gaze outward to life’s welcoming bounty

no physical traits shared with your harem~save face so not to scare ’em

a friend can't be betrayed if they were never a friend~non-existance

liars can't believe in their own existence~how can they believe mine?

given every clue~if you don’t know me by now it's yours to undue

pure love’s nature cannot take pleasure in other’s sorrows pain and sin

poets with grand gushing font~sage with a pen or idiot savant?

Howling Winter Wolves

The day is a gray one and bitter cold
Wind slapping my face piercingly bold
The snow is icy white, the top layer is hard
My forced footsteps leave the service scarred

Not a sound is heard, noises freeze in mid air
Later the moon exposes that activity was their
Some rabbits, deer and even some wolf tracks
Leaving me to wonder, are they running in packs

Tired and hungry, I head back to my lodge
Safe, yet feeling there is something I just dodged
looking out my window I see shadows prowling
There they are on the hill, I hear the wolves howling
