Lighthouse Spark

Standing strong with a sky reaching height
Visible from miles, very much in sight.
Standing tall in the middle of deep ocean
Bears the waves and winds, without motion.
Guiding the movement of huge ships
Shows the path to those on trips.
The light on top sparks so bright
Ensuring everything around is alright.
Showing the way leading to destination
Encouraging to move,being an inspiration.
The only hope in the dark deep sea
The beacon, one needs in position, to be...

Premium Member BIBLICAL BEACON - Lighthouse Contest

In the quiet before my thoughts
light gathers quietly,
a soft gleam rising from the page.

Scripture becomes my lighthouse~
a lantern steady as breath, bright without burning.

Its words tilt toward me
like a beam sweeping the dark,
not demanding belief,
offering only direction.

I keep close to the glow~
my fear thins,
and the heart remembers
how to unclench.

*Your word is a lamp to my feet~
the quiet truth that steadies me more gently
than any lighthouse ever could.

In this tender radiance, I am guided,
not by certainty, but by presence~
a beacon written in grace.

*passage from Psalm 119:105

The Traveller's Eye

I am not from your soil, but from red earth,
Yet my heart maps the scars upon your ground.
I travel through the verses of the world,
Where poets craft the truth that must be found.

We build with metaphors, not stone or steel,
A common tongue where silent pain can breathe.
We take the key, the olive branch, the seal,
And weave the hope that politics bereaves.

To you, who etch your grief in stubborn rhyme,
Who make a homeland out of breath and line:
Your words are not a whisper lost in time,
But roots that in the global conscience twine.

And to the keepers of the steadfast tree,
Who live the poem others dare to write:
Your dignity defines what it means to be,
A beacon in the longest, darkest night.

We are the scribes who hold the traveller's eye,
Who cross all borders under the same sky.
We carry back the story, clear and stark,
To etch your truth on history's worn bark.

So let our stanzas be a pilgrim's road,
A shared, unyielding, and a fierce abode.
A chorus rising from the shattered stone—
You are not, and will never be, alone.

A Name's Worth

A Name's Worth
Names etched in stone,
Graffiti'd with pain,
Destroyed, yet not gone,
Echoes remain.
It's hard to keep a name,
When hands erase with spite,
But I won't give up the claim,
My name holds through the fight.
In streets, in halls of fame,
A name's the mark we bear,
Though torn and worn with time,
It's worth the struggle, beyond compare.
I'll hold on to mine,
A symbol of my past,
A beacon for my future's design,
My name, forever to last.

In the tower where the sea churns cold and deep,
A lone light flickers while the watchers sleep.
Winds carry whispers up the spiral stair,
And moon stains dance upon the weathered air.

Footsteps echo though the lantern’s glow,
Where once a keeper watched the waves below.
His duty ended where the shadows creep,
Now his vigil haunts the beams he swore to keep.

On storm-spent nights his figure walks the rim,
His silent call lost in the fog so dim.
Here the sea and spirit blur without a seam—
A lighthouse lit by memory and dream.

You’re a beacon, calling to me from a sea of pitch blackness.

Shine a bit brighter, please,

and bring me on home.

Premium Member A Beacon of Warmth

A force of nature, with a heart so grand,
She walked this earth, a light in the land.
Our Auntie Dana, fierce and free,
Like the hammerhead shark she loved to see.

She navigated life's deepest, darkest seas,
Finding solace and strength on her bended knees.
In the Bible, her compass, she found her way,
Guiding her through each and everyday.

For her three boys, her love knew no bound,
In their triumphs, her greatest joy was found.
Then came the grandkids, a new chapter to start,
Each one a treasure held close to her heart.

Aunt to so many and mother to all,
With laughter and cheer,
she banished our sorrows, our every fear.
Her witty humor, her infectious grin,
A beacon of warmth, from deep within.

Though she faced tempests and trials unkind.
A beautiful spirit, she left behind.
So let her memory live, a whisper on the breeze,
Among the vibrant, sunlit, whispering trees.
A testament to a beautiful, brave, and loving heart,
From which we never, ever, have to part.

Love you Aunt Dana, We will miss you!

The lighthouse at Battery Point, Crescent City, CA

The lighthouse
alone on the hill
just a tree at its side
its beacon
that light

It casts a long light
in a long blink
and then it's gone
in a spin
to mark the shore within

It sits on its own island
only accessible on low tide
the path a bridge
mercurial moat that hides it

The building is lit at night
as well as its beam
presenting an eerie glow
In the fog it seems

Almost haunted
romantic
so substantial

It's survived tsunamis
wrapped around its base
which left no trace
as they ravaged inland

A sight to see
A hike I intend to aspire
up those circular stairs
to peer out through that light tower
