marinated pork belly
exudes decadence
my charcoal grill is smokin
juice drips from skewers
great appetizer
can’t wait to
bite
Dining amongst the Pakistani friends of my neighbour.
Hearing them speaking in their Urdu tongues as all turns to a blur.
Enjoying all their barbecued meats and condiment treats.
I am a barbecue chicken man
and I don't mean from a can
grill or roast it slow and long
slather that sauce on strong
You bet I like it wet
saucy and tangy sweet
Barbecue is like
making candy out of meat
Simmering in it's juices that barbecue smell
makes your mouth water for that barbecue meal
The chicken so tender it self debones
taste so good you'll want to chew the bones
Lick your fingers lick your plate
let none of that barbecue flavor escape
Be sure to make enough for even more
your neighbors for a taste at your door
And when the barbecue chicken is all gone
those barbecue ribs need gnawing on.

Coals
Turn white
That give off
Heat for cooking,
Now season the steak
And then place on the grill,
Then when it starts to sizzle
Start turning so it doesn't burn,
Cook throughly to your perfection
Then enjoy with salad, fries and cold beer.

Once there was a right dandy dude from New York
He dined each day on the finest loin of pork
Never met a pig he did not admire,
Roasting on a flaming barby fire
Made even tastier by the pop of the cork.

put a cauliflower on the barb-b
let us roast it while it's still alive
put a burger on the barb-b
it was dead before it was fried
chomp on lettuce, no sound
of begging can you hear
but you just ate it, live me dear
all flora breaths for the world
but go on eat it alive or dead
to all vegans, I have to say
it's your bed your making
on it you could a long time lay
as omnivores, you could eat
both flora and fauna, together
if we want to live we have to feed
summer cooking my recipe
go on chuck a crayfish on the barbecue
roast some chestnuts, next years
new life, just remember we eat
to survive, come on summer cooking
let's rock n roll or a Viennese waltz
meat or veg or go crazy eat both
gee summer cooking ain't it fun

Barbecue Love
I grilled your dreams
Burnt your hopes
Singed your expectations
Set your life ablaze
I fed you charred hopes
Which gave you indigestion
The result was constipated love
Which could only be healed
By a laxative name Tyrone
Tyrone picked up the pieces
Of your broken heart
Put them together
And made you whole again
Now I am left with ashes
Wishing you'd come home
The clouds roll in, the sky gets dark,
The trees sway to and fro
And thunder rumbles, getting set
For Nature's rainstorm show.
Of course the timing coincides
With readying the grill
But if I have to barbecue
While rain pours down, I will.
The burgers and the dogs deserve
A charcoal bed below
So I'll attempt with all my might
To see that it is so.
Reckless Ron from sunny Bennelong
Turned barbecue sausage without a tong,
He'd use his teeth to open beer,
He'd call out loud, " I've got no fear,"
But alas, one day he left the gas on.
Authors note:
Bennelong is the point in Sydney Harbour, NSW, Australia, where the famous Sydney Opera House is located.
it's beautiful, the whole dam business,
the circle, the new and distant friends,
the words formed, which blow away;
like Zeek and Ike and Calloway;
and the dark sky, rests; and I
find a jilted tree, not far from the buzz,
and the busy blue-breezed, hussy; the
chicken on the step, persisting its
gibberish neck;
but, heavy in eye, I melt into the lavatory;
with its pirouetting flies, and dark satanic
skies, of cracked vermillion tiles;
nonetheless; this is my life; thank you for
the friends, the words, and my wonderful wife;
the sweet afternoon-wind kisses, my old locks,
and spent near-misses;
and; the quality, rhyming-time ;
and I can’t disguise my reprise, my dread-locked
naked smile, and goatee-spilling beard, latching on
to the fertile, busy-breeze, and its warm fertile ease.
but despite all this; I’ll wait; I’ll wait for the borrowed
lies, the perky anchor’s, version of the news;
treated, trusty lemon skies?
I’ll wait:
We were strolling through time's meadow just walking love's dog....
Then I found a log; threw it in my back pack when she roped his hog ?
Each morning just before lunch at eleven,
I can see the black smoke rise.
Pops has his large grill fired up.
Chicken and ribs sizzle over the flame.
Just come here to satisfy your hunger.
Pops is not skimpy on his sauce.
The man is the boss for cooking.
