Mi Mejor Amiga de Caramelo

Mi mejor amiga de caramelo,
dulce como un sueño de algodón,
con risas que saben a verano
y abrazos llenos de canción.

Guardas azúcar en las palabras,
y miel en cada mirar,
cuando el mundo se vuelve amargo,
me enseñas otra vez a confiar.

A title like "Mi Mejor Amiga de Caramelo" feels like a pink ribbon around a memory jar, sweet, playful, and full of affection. ????

Memories of making these with my dad.
Each time they were delicious, cooking with my dad priceless.
Add garlic, onion, seasoning, ketchup, crushed saltine crackers and egg.
Toss with raw hamburger, add salt and pepper, shape into round balls.
Bake in the oven for fifty minutes, your house will smell Italian.
Always let them cool, you will be tempted to eat one right away!
Layer them in pasta sauce, let them simmer, an hour or two.
Lots of fresh pasta pairs well, eat them plain, a full plate or a few.
Spread a huge serving, add sauce and pasta, no diets allowed!

Tu Esencia

Aquel sinsonte-
que se posaba
en el balcon,
apenas trina.

Al no escuchar
tú voz sutil-
cantando
sin sesar.

Y esos rosales
que ayer regabas
con delirio,
hoy se marchitan.

Pues ya de ti, no queda-
ni la fragancia
de tu esencia-
en nuestro hogar.

Volverte a ver

Volverte a ver

Me preguntó cómo estabas y si estabas comiendo bien

Solitario

Ayer fue cuando supe
la triste realidad de tener
muy pocos amigos.
Y cuando digo pocos,
quiero decir exactamente eso:
pocos. Muy pocos.
Amargo descubrir que
aquellos abrazos,
sonrisas a los ojos,
palabras de estímulos
y apretones de manos
no eran flores genuinas.
Eso apuntaba a lo oculto:
la comida de mi mujer,
un par de pesos,
el talento,
vaciar frustraciones,
acribillar el tiempo
y hasta robarme una idea
(y sí que me han robado bastantes).
Pero cuando busqué el apoyo
para la justicia ante calumnias,
los que me robaron el sudor,
abusaron de mí,
me dejaron en la inopia
y hasta intentaron aniquilarme,
pues solo encontré el inmenso vacío.
Ahora comprendí que el mundo no
es más que una perversa camarilla
que se rebela contra ti en
el mismo instante
en que ya no
puede manipularte.

The Piano

Ebony and ivory, noted for sound,
Digital playback, sleight of hand.
Songsters echo, vibrant pound,
Upright, organ, cottage, grand.

Strings attached, taut with suspense,
The Master Key hammers home
Letters of note; chords of tense,
Past and present; timed metronome.

Naturally played with flat and sharp
Sweeping the board. Ayre of nonchalance.
Orchestral manoeuvres performed with harp
Brass and wind; counter balance.

Peddled depression, ayer lingers on
Distant wave; caressed...pianissimo.
Emotive conductor, under the baton
Chorused voice harks, keyed to the piano.

Not something I'm experiencing, but abuse is not only physical...It can be mental, emotional, verbal, psychological....Neglect is also a form of abuse.

In trying to find pics for this poem...I traveled to an ugly world. The images are haunting. I'm sickened to my core. The images will stay with me....children, the elderly, women, men, animals...all suffering. I'm sure if we are honest with ourselves, we will admit to being abusive at times. :( Let's make a change.

Sabras Que Te Quiero

A Poet's Heart

Deep within the cavity chest
You’ll find its striding place
Safely tucked away
To live once more – each day:

to note the passing seasons
autumn’s rise and fall of spring
the winter’s beast that howls
the summer’s hot, hot winds.

where there is love and fantasy
where kisses never end
where tangled sheets breathe fire
as lovers twist and bend.

in scraped knees
a howling dog at moonlight
where catfights cringe the skin.

when letters from a long, lost friend
bring tears, and sniffles, and grins.

when words fail others
when feelings are lost
where communication ends . . .
a poet’s words begin.

a poet’s heart beats fire
it beats of truth, aspires
in every face, on every land . . .
it beats fierce – with Ayer!

Perdoname Mama

Sociedad De Consumo A Menudo
