Notes About The Poem

Brutality

B ruised by bitter blows
R age uncontrolled, bestowed
U nable to break free, I cringe
T error terrifies… yet again…yet again
A rsenal of belittling weaponry, employed
L ayer upon layer, neglect enshrouds
I solation from the questioning world, enforced
Y ou are brutally brutal…yet again…yet again

Not something I'm experiencing, but abuse is not only physical...It can be mental, emotional, verbal, psychological....Neglect is also a form of abuse.

In trying to find pics for this poem...I traveled to an ugly world. The images are haunting. I'm sickened to my core. The images will stay with me....children, the elderly, women, men, animals...all suffering. I'm sure if we are honest with ourselves, we will admit to being abusive at times. :( Let's make a change.

Well written Eileen. Behind close doors or on "the death march", a total disregard of anothers life is born from such beginnings. Some wounds cannot heal and fester to create monsters. Shane.

This is different from your usual writes, Eileen; variety is good. You chose an important topic to speak of, one that effects many people, but not all of them have the courage to run away from the abuse or even to report it. Well done for raising awareness. Hugs // paul

Such a powerful acrostic on a heartbreaking subject :-) As you say its not only the physical damage on the outside that can be seen, the emotional damage is just as bad yet hidden from the world. Hugs jan xx

There is far too much screaming going on behind closed doors. And we're supposed to be 'civilized'. Sharp work, Jade. Let's all step out into the open and pray for peace behind closed doors.Viv x
