Vanilla Poetry Contest Judged

The overall standard in this contest was very high - the poems certainly were not vanilla! Twelve poems went through to the second round, and from there I whittled them down to nine winners. I looked at original approach to the theme, use of imagery, unusual use of language and concepts, and the technicalities i.e. poetic devices used. The poems were a joy to read, and I thank everybody who entered. Congratulations to the winners! I will comment individually on each one.
