March Mourning

(i.m. Nicola Bulley)

mist-shrouds are wrapping
around the River Wyre's weir
rain-swollen waters...
currents of secrets rushing
hushing reed-wrapped daffodils

I love the imagery! The final line has such impact with the daffodils. I could just settle on this poem. Each line worth the read! Hugs ~ Kim (fave)

Currents of secrets rushing,, Love that line, it says so much, just with four words, how do you do it?

Congratulations on placing 1st, Charlotte. Unfortunately, Nicola Bulley's death became a mixture of tragedy & entertainment. People seem to have lost control of their priorities :( Well done for your poem which does not look for sensationalism. ~ Best regards // paul

Sombre & Excellent. Your poems have some other dimension to them ..and I can't quite articulate what I mean by that other than to say 'a bloody good read'. Cheers - Gary

Sorry for your loss, Charlotte. You said a lot in 5 short lines. Beauty with a touch of sadness.

Good to see you back, was getting a bit religious on the bible site. The death of March, taking us into Aprils crying. Never done a tanka, actually, I've never done a haiku. Need to get a grip of myself.
