Cut Up Without You

long dark night you never say return to me this orange bedroom its open fire crackling through acetylcholine tongues like fingers bodies arched two spoons smeared in oils red and umber the drifting leaves the streets advertise allegorical objects on a wall not imagery for leaving me lost with innocence and weeping like the hunted who flick up the window of light-washed sky against the tilted patchwork fields the falling landscape

For me the the imagery is both sensual and melancholic, with the crackling fire and bodies arched suggesting a moment frozen in time, filled with warmth and desire. The use of sensory details, such as the smeared oils and colours of red and umber, adds depth to the scene, immersing the reader in the sensory experience of the moment.

Like a cheer me up poem on a Monday. I'm not sure if this spoon has died or just left, but the loss is palpable.

A wonderful poem "long dark night" evokes feelings of loss, nostalgia, and desire, Charlotte. Your longing for a bygone period or connection emphasizes the emotional depth of longing and recollection. A fave
