word morph - a new form for fun! - Nigel Fawcett's Blog

Inspired by Brian’s poetic inventiveness, together with a passion for free verse, Christie and I are sponsoring a contest for our new form.<br><br>We are sure you have come across, or played, the word game where you take two four letter words and then make a list, starting with word A and ending with word B, by changing one letter at a time (in the same position), while still making a real word, e.g.<br><br>COLD to WARM<br><br>COLD, CORD, WORD, WARD, WARM<br><br>or, POET to SOUP<br><br>POET, POUT, POUR, SOUR, SOUP<br><br>We are calling the form ‘word morph’ and require a poem where the last word of each line is the respective word from the list. It is equally acceptable for it to be the first word of each line. Every line should be a phrase in its own right, i.e. not wrapped over from the previous line. <br><br>The title should be: word morph – WORD-A to WORD-B<br><br>Poem example:<br><br>word morph – COLD to WARM<br><br>until our worlds collided my body was COLD<br>my life before you was bound in black CORD<br>like the colour of my cave and the mood of my WORD<br>now, your love brings me light, your soul is my WARD<br>your breath gives me strength, and your heart keeps me WARM<br><br>Oh, any subject and don’t forget to have fun!<br><br>Nigel and Christie<br>
