For Paulie: Rip

in this silence
the respirator breathes…
we did not know
his heart
was
still

*Inspired by Brian Strand's, Indelible Impressions contest. This was written the day after my
Step-father-in-law passed away...he passed while we were in the room.

Wonderful to hear from you. I treasure your book of poems. Sad and stark to be in the room when a person dies. I've been there a couple of times. Love, daver

Speaking of bold, daring. I wrote an epic poem called Iomindia, which is quite off the beaten track, which you might be interested in reading. It's 50 pages. Just a warning. If interested I'll e-mail it to you. Love, daver

LOve your bold, daring, searching mind. Love, daverp

I'm still reading your book - Waking the Dead. For me, poetry and music are so similar. The artist flows along, flows along, and every once in a while strikes gold - just a line or two, a well timed, well placed word or a few. While I don't connect with all the pieces, I feel that far too many poets are vain and ostentatious. I feel, though, your efforts are from the gut - bold, daring, searching. LOve, daver

The "collective counscious" is what it is all about, so far as I can determine, which is very little. The idea that all - ALL - is interrelated makes sense. I take it beyond the Earth and Stars, and into other dimensions. the "Go into your closet" thing. If I think too much about infinity I get weird. The complexity is beyond anything. Love, daver

You can stretch the rubber band just so far then it snaps back. I pray for a reversal of things, but not Armageddon. Education seems to be the answer, yet education is getting too expensive for most people on this earth. People can change things if they will, but I am afraid they won't. "Waking the Dead' seems an impossibility. Keep in touch. Love, daver

Hi, Kristin, I've been wanting to write and tell you how much I enjoy your book of poetry - Waking the Dead - I won't B.S. There are a great many poems I can't figure out, and I am lazy about too many rereads, but the ones I can identify with are superb. You really are special. As for predictions - the society we live in is, to me, getting completely upside-down. Our value system is horrid. LOve, daver
