This is a prophetic poem about the triumph of real poetry over its current poor imitation.

There is change in the wind; there is change in the sea
preternaturally strange with her myriad eyes—
stars mirrored in waves. Compelled by the moon,
whipped to foam, she is drawn into restive tides
rising and cresting as kestrels

tides flow in then out
     waves appear then disappear
          rhythms of nature 

Tides

My heart is darker than the water since you left. 

I  feel you in the wind, our spirits live on through the people around me. 

Their laughter reminds me of us. 

When we were happy.

She Comes and Goes with Your Tides

Some have watched her rising
from an ocean of time.
Her sightings return at the pull
of each luna cycle.

No clamshell boats for her,
after she rises from the waves
she and the shoreline disappear
she's only to be seen driving a classic
Chevy convertible or riding
a gayly adorned donkey.

She is sister to desert nights,
and all the dance moves
of the free roaming

Seashore

Sly low tide sneaks up to smooch the smooth shore
that holds old footsteps left behind us
and lends itself to sand castles
standing guard until high tide
plovers dart on fleet feet
across sodden sands
spindle-legged girls
hunt conch shells —
starfish 
found!
Blue
waters 
glistening
aqua appeal —
white horse sea-magic 
spindrift manes rise from crests 
awakened from lowest ebb 
high tide arrives on thunder

Like sunlit tides on a quiet shore,
a breath of peace in each rolling wave,
it hums of freedom, soft and serene—
a prism of truth in motion’s embrace,
where hope drifts in translucent grace.

you stand watch ship of night tides....i left shore
and took my soul to the sea

lunar forces pull
tumultuous might of sea

The morning spoke in softest hues,  
As waves embraced the world anew.  
The sea lay calm, the sky stretched wide,  
A sacred peace stood by our side.  

We traced our names upon the shore,  
Then drew the star, a circle more.  
A sign of love, a bond

Inner Tides and Outer Moons

Inner Tides and Outer Moons

Just like Earth and her moon
Our own body-mind fluxes 
With and within the cycle of tides.
Up-down, strong-weak, high-low
We swell and contract in a rhythm 
That effects if not controls us all.

Maybe it’s even what makes us care
About others and what others think of us
Since without the flux
We’d be more consistent
And so

Of Time and Tides

The sea repeats the stories of the shore,
Each wave a whispered promise, soon erased;
What’s built in sand, the tides will claim once more,
No matter how the stones are set or placed.

The sun dips low, a golden parting sigh,
Its shimmer fading from the ocean’s face;
The winds, like restless ghosts, go rushing by,
While shadows fall with slow,
