Siren of Winter

On the coldest nights, when the air and land conspire
And the winds sing their siren's serenade of desire
An unbecoming part inside causes me to rise
And festoon my frame with my most festive attire
To step outside for a walk  

A silent stroll amidst the hidden horrors of the times

Siren Song

I thought I heard
an island siren croon
a sophisticated tune
with words in song
about the moon in June
as a big bright
and bold balloon
enchanting music
captured me
shipwrecked
my heart is all at sea
or am I wrong
imagining things
it's only the waves
and the wind that sings

A Siren's Song

Luna beckon's a siren's song 
To reach the crescent moon,
she awakens before the water serpents arise,
and sea merchants sailing in from shores nearby
At crack of dawn and drawn to flickering lights,
night's natator of the bluest sea

I had a dream last night. When I looked into the mirror, I was wearing a denim mid-skirt with boots, and a dramatic yellow top with feathers—things I would never wear, least of all on a steaming summer day. I looked around and found myself on the dock, where my grandparents live in Keelung, Taiwan.

The Sad Siren Song

She wore necklaces of coral,
strings of pearls embracing her body,
glinting back at the broken sunlight
scattered across the sea floor. 
Her glassy eyes gazed up,
somewhat worried, somewhat mournful,
longing to leap above the waves,
to sing that chorus of birds passing by. 
Longing for her voice to take flight,
uninterrupted by ships sailing by. 
She wasn't born a killer;
just

Baseless without foundation, a hollow pretension.

A dazzling array of endless phase shifts,

In the watery deep, where she calls home, 
She swims with her kind, but she is alone. 
They call to her, but she swims away, 
Returning to the surface, each night, and day. 
Searching for something, she does not understand, 
A beautiful creature, that walked on dry land. 
She had seen the boat, that fateful

I watched as you lay there. 

Unbothered as the ocean reached for you,

Kissed your skin,
Held your hair,
Soothed your thoughts.

Your eyes were the color of sea glass, vibrant and ever-changing. 

If I left, would you sink?
Would you shimmer away like the divine?
Or would you float like the sea foam that surrounds the stars?

this does not keep them from staring

worth the trouble she might bring
