Trump Jobs Report
Scruffy was a disgusting slob
Who planted people for the mob
Though none ever grew
At least Scruffy knew
Times are tough, but he has a job!...

A Scruffy Cat's Tail
Once when I went to the store
Saw an old cat named Kitty Galore.

She sang and she pranced
And tried hard to dance,

But still remained just an eyesore....

Sitting at a table
by himself
glancing at the menu
feeling lonely
reminiscing about
his wife and
how she passed
he lingered a while

On his way out
discretely he left enough
to cover the meal
for the scruffy young couple
with the two kids
celebrating Mother’s Day

Nobody Is Different
People categorize us in different ways
Concise decisions of how we talk
Auto pilot as they stalk
Crazy dressing must be rebellious type
Wearing makeup in the middle of night

Revealing dress for all to see
Scruffy look many can be
So how can you say no different ways?
Seeing the soul in its pure form
Ignoring culture, race and bad taste...

Premium Member My Dear Old Friends - My Shoes
I have a pair of friends I've had for years

Should we part I would surely drown in tears

          Together we've trod byways

               Although we've seen better days

My scruffy old shoes that I bought at Sears

Bygone Days
Bygone days

Climbing trees
Paper boats
Scabby knees
Duffle coats
Pick n mix
Runny nose
Thrupenny bits
Scruffy clothes
Flying kites
Desperate Dan
Conquer fights
Tins of spam
Spots n pimples
Teachers cane
Hunting thimbles
Bronco lane
Skimming stones
Hopscotch
Nit combs
Chicken pox
Kicking cans
Running wild
Building dams
Fifties child...

Sleepless Night
The clock chimes past midnight
There are no more footsteps
Of scruffy old covens,
'Cos they're already gone
Out, for a night clubbing

Smoke comes out from tube
Billows in small rings
Makes my little cube
Like a chimney thing

I feel the still
Of lonely night
So I turn on
My only toy

To treat out
Senseless thoughts
With poetry

Till eyes
Caught a

Sleep...

Premium Member To Be Thrown Overboard Soon
Two scruffy pirates picked me up.
Intending to toss me overboard.
I weighed too much; they were struggling.
True.
They needed to lighten their load.
But I was not going easy.
I purposefully got heavier.
"She is flotsom," the tall fat one said.
"Jetsam," the dumb ugly one argued.
"Let's get a dictionary," I said. "Let's do this right."
This gave me a few more days,
as there were no books on this ship....

A Dog For Sale
A dog for Sale,
A man who lived in a castle came over a scruffy
dog that belonged to Gypsies who lived under
canvas. The man took pity on the dog and paid
ten euros for it. The dog was groomed got its own
bed to sleep in and was petted; alas, the dog was
not impressed as it had been sold before.
When Gypsies left, they are always on the move,
the dog followed them, leaving behind the castle,
the bed and a puzzled man....

Premium Member God Is a Flat
Dead and distant.
Someone's personal best friend.

Don't say his name, don't draw his face.

He or She or They are an A Flat or a B Sharp,
or a thought, a spark, or a coming together,
Everything or nothing at all,
or love.
The beginning and the end.
The Alpha dog the scruffy human pack seeks,
roaming wildly in the quest for answers.

God is an A Flat or a B Sharp,
but not a Middle C.
That would just be too ordinary....

Premium Member Where Have They Gone
Where have they gone? The tabby cat said.
Who cares? Asked Australian shepherd as he jumped on the bed.
His paw tore up a corner of lace on a pillowcase hem.
Get off of there! Yelped a chow chow named Jim.

I think they’re on the lake, they may be looking in.
Two kitties chased each other under the bed, a total win.
Let’s mess up the whole room, a scruffy tomcat suggested.
Better not! Said a persnickety old maid cat, we might be arrested....

Tomboy
Hey pretty girl, yes I’m talking to you
Don’t think you can keep hidden from view
You may try to hide in your tomboy guise
But I can see you; I can see the hidden prize
You may dress in oversized jeans and a baggy T
And try to hide yourself in shapeless anonymity
But I can see the real you beneath the scruffy hair
I can see the pretty girl who’s hiding in there
You’ll come out soon and everyone will see
The girl inside the tomboy who will marry me...

Premium Member No Haircuts For the Duration
Alas, due to the insidious coronavirus situation,
The guv ordered barber shops closed for the duration!

Now, I suppose that is of no concern to a bald-headed bloke,
But since I still have a few strands on my skull, it ain't no joke!

What am I to do sans my barber deftly wielding his shears,
Taking some off the top and trimming about my ears?

If the virus prevails many more months, I'm afraid,
That I must stifle my scruffy mane with a luxuriant braid!...

Bear in Uniform

You had wide shoulders,
and a scruffy face.
Your beard was soft,
and you had nice eyes.

I was not what you needed,
You were exactly right.
Saved me from ugly,
and evil.
Thank you.

What can I say,
that “we” were never meant to be?
Convenience, and friendship,
turned upside down.

Yet, a picture found loose,
in a drawer,
brought back…
happy feet, spoons,
pleasant reminders
of better moments, now gone.

I hope you are happy....

Trevor
His face is scruffy and he smiles,
Trevor has been gone a while
He’s been reported missing for days,
I peer and longingly anxiously to play.

Tears drain down swollen chaffed cheeks,
Lying in my bed there is no relief.
His face was smug and warm but he coyly smiled,
Trevor has stolen his freedom awhile

One day my Trevor may weep as I do,
For he loved freely over hills and was lost,
I dream at this computer alone and must cry,
Missing Trevor, my cherished lost guy....

Premium Member Sentimental Objects
There are certain items kept
Sentimental objects are special
They hold the good memories
Some of us own one object
While some of us own several

It could be anything owned
Mine are several items
I treasure to my heart
I framed a Christmas card
A scene of Colpoy Bay area

A painting framed of Wiarton
My sewing table plus more
A stain glass wheel hand made
When the sun shines the colours
show
My statue dog Scruffy
An autograph book of poetry
Are sentimental to me...

No Place Like Home
There's no place like home
So the old saying goes
When you're down in the dumps
It will cure your woes

Blob out on the couch
Watch rubbish TV
Wear scruffy old jeans
And a worn-out hoodie

Head for the kitchen
Eat whatever you want
(Like that packet of biscuits
That’s been there for yonks)

The place is a mess – who cares!
Have a wee snooze
Let everything slide
You’ve nothing to lose

Recharge your batteries
Find some new zest
Works’ overrated
Home is the best...
