Nostalgia drove me to my ancestral  home
The air there was infused with scent of Frangipani
At twilight vermillion rays made the water so

 with droppings on  the pellucid river
Some trees bent down with fruits so luscious 
The only sound that broke the tranquil
Came from the menagerie
Poor animals made noises 
Wanting desperately  their release....

      charmed by its full moon;
         wisp pleasant cool breeze rose.

   I lie awake In bed, 
      watching out the window,
         as shadows dance across the bed,
           searching for sleep.   

   Perching mockingbirds sing,
      their weft threads carried
         on whisper puff breath

lullabies, by chance,
might put me to sleep.

It is the reverberation
of light and sound
that we recognize,
the feathered mantra's,
Psalms for the solar plexus.

Then there are the faithless calls
of mockingbirds -

there's always a 'then'....

Gentle is the touch of breeze that makes its way 
Through during the evening in these hot days.
I sit in a web chair under the big oak's gaze, 
Listening to the mockingbirds sing; giving praise.

Leaves streamlet soft light, dappled plays 
on my lap, and dormant grass; rain we pray.
 
Like a butterfly in a maze of scent, my mind strays
To the day occurrence and  memories, it displays.
