A recent share on a post, that is so relevant to poets writing in a world seeped in instant self gratification.
Title.
The Entrepreneur
(A lone voice whispers)
We do what we do, because we are old school
Inspired by the likes of visionaries such as, Michelangelo or, Vincent van Gogh
For in a modern world driven to seek immediate validation, and the trappings of success
We may be becoming a rare breed
For deep down, we know this unconditionally
Unconsciously
We are a work in progress
We who do the hard work constantly, through patience, and resilience
We know we will eventually see the journey has been worth it
As we are blessed
When the world eventually sees or embraces our portfolios
For that immense need driven by relentless consistency, patience, and resilience
Will eventually knock on a certain door to be opened by us
Marked
"For the brave
Who conquered the Lands of Broken Dreams filled with Regrets"

I'm so proud of you and the things you do, you have a heart of gold, you have something precious which can never be bought, or sold.
You're one in a million, you're a faithful friend to the very end. You're a gift from God. It's only once in a while we find a true friend.
May God bless you and keep you and rain down blessings from heaven with whatever you need. A friend like you is a rare breed.
there are people who are free to drift
in and out of our life as they pursue their destiny
they’ll always shine and make us proud
we even know them
they’re people who restore our faith in humanity
and in what is most impressive
people who’ve gone through hell and back
and rose above it
people who never give up and are the epitome
of hope, courage and determination
people who insist on living life to its fullest
no matter the cost
they walk humbly among us as they impact
the lives of everyone they touch
and surprisingly they don’t even know
how truly amazing they are
because these people are indeed a rare breed

Open Fields
We are but paper planes to birdie wings
songs left unsung
battles left unwon
I am but a fly on the wall watching with objectivity my words may get misconstrued
But they stand in truth
I hold onto the threads of my youth
And those unraveling ,
Ripped to shreds
An empty vessel
Wrinkling with wear
Windows mirror souls
At the door
The terror of night
The greed of spite
So I carry on
As an apple of the earth
Oh how we’ve grown
In open fields, wildflowers bloom and weeds take root
A rare breed of monstrosity
In the very thread of our being
I’ve awoken to the glee of canicules
Sprinklers sprinkling summer fun
Young lad run tracing droplets of summer sun

Our love began as a small little seed
Now it is in full bloom today, my love
I am on cloud nine, the stars did align
My darling man, you are such a rare breed
Your steadfast love melted my icy heart
You fulfilled a deep longing and pure need
Basking in your sweet nectar is pure bliss
Sweetheart I tend follow, you are the lead
You are a precious gift from up above
The stars did align, I am on cloud nine
I am so happy cause’ I embraced love’s creed

Good stand up comedians are a very rare breed
That's why this guy is quite hilarious indeed
He's Brian Reagan
A fantastic comedian
His humour is unusual and totally unique
My legacy as a person is I want people to say I was real down to earth.
A rare breed, a true one of a kind.
I want to be the exception to humanity
The opposite of ego and vanity
I want to be that person who you feel at ease with.
I want my character traits to resemble Christ:
Someone who was kind, loyal, trustworthy, disciplined, respectful, humble, and honest.
The person you can sit and vent to, the person who will give you money when you're in need, a person who will go out of his way to make sure you are ok.
That's the kind of person I want to be remembered for.
Someone
I look up to
Long time ago
Small talk
Not much
But a lot of glances
Seeing him
Giving me a sense of warmth
Turning me into a cat
Head butts and rubbing
Never been so safe
Somehow I know
He is good man
Not ordinary one
He has manners
The way he speaks and does
Firm but gentle
Intrigues me deeply
Such a rare breed
That puts me in deep awe
Of how simple he is
Yet impacts me so much inside
It is like giving me hope
Without him saying things to me
Strange beauty
Appreciating his existence
His heart and soul
Unknowningly
He saves my life
Leaving me speechless
Able to smile again
Finding who I am
Before the world takes over
Thank you...

As I sit here and ponder the question of how humankind deserves you...
As I think of the luxury and comfort you deserve...
I return to my senses and rebuke myself- How dare I think I can comprehend what you deserve?!
See, you are a perfect reflection of God's image of human creation
You are a Goddess, my white tiger- a rare breed
You are refined and elegant, my living sweet fantasy
Your words soothe my doubtful soul
Your character quiets my blaring mind
Your deeds never cease to leave me in awe
You are such a contradiction of modernity
Yet so complex that the former times just cannot claim you
You are a definite wonder!
See, you are not of this world...no! You just can't be
You belong in a paradise somewhere- where people are not fans but followers of Christ
But you are gentle and modest enough to lead humbly because you know who rules over your path
An African, a Black, Christian, Powerful Queen you are!
Love
Daughter
Fare thee well
The rare breed of men
Sunflowers with a majestic gold crown
The blue-purple of the evening sky
The white clouds with a sunbeam inside
Flow - sweet river onwards
To a place that can't be found
on any map - directions scattered
Suddenly now - I feel its warmth
Grabbing at the corners of a freshly-read novel
Showing its strength at the peak of the day
People think that writing is simple
If that's the case - then why aren't we all writers?
I am borrowing time from an older gentleman
Seconds that he keeps in his pockets
Time is a precious thing - never waste it
I belong to a rare breed of men
A kind who see the world through the lens of a Poet
Small - we start out but then we grow
And we get closer to those lily-white clouds
We outstretch our palms
And feel the rain as it lands on our shoulders
We are giants in a world of ants and insects
We are the reason and the rhyme
I kiss your lips not to silence you
but to give your life a punctuated moment
full-stop, period, and caesura
I promised you I would return
And on that day
You felt her warmth
And you told her for the last time
How much you loved her
How much you needed her
She will always be inside your heart
We never really know, do we?
Who has our best interest and who's doing it for show
I am the target in generation genocide and don't need the fake
Born black
Die black
Live black
Try black
My blackness has become my reality
If you love me like a brother
Call me by my name
I am not a rare breed or new discovery
I've been black since my great grandfather
I've been black since my grandmother
I was black before my mother and before my father
This temple in all of its glory is majestic
It is holy, it is prestine, it is treasured

I
knew a Tiger
who swam with dolphins
along the razor’s edge
and
meditated with a yellow bird
under his honey’s tree
in a west coast garden.
A
rare breed
from an indigenous
creed.
His
poetic wisdom
written with
zen.
He
sung his songs
in syllables:
5-7-5 and 5-7-5-7-7.
His
beloved’s last kiss
left him fragrant roses
when she crossed over.
Where
did our
Windwalker
go?
Lava
beads, sky lanterns,
and a beautiful
rainbow.
Is
he crying with Coyotes
to the moon or on
heaven’s Windswept Shore?
I
knew a Tiger
who walked
with the wind.

Harmony of the Soul
PoetrySoup Poem of the Day - January 29, 2019
If I can be very sincere
for just a minute or two.
I have something so rare
I will like to share with you.
I simply want to let you know
that you are always on my mind...
The scarce seeds of love you sow
prove that you are one of a kind.
I wish we have met before we met,
my story would have been sweeter...
With you, there is nothing to regret,
each new day can only get better.
You are the definition of true love:
a sterling star in the darkest night,
an amiable angel sent from above...
to lend a light and make things right.
A lot of friends have come and gone...
many more will cleave and leave soon...
after all has been said and done,
I want you forever as my beloved boon.
You are a more than a friend indeed...
standing with me when things are rough
proves to me that you are a rare breed...
For you dear, sweet words are never enough.
Dedicated to my beloved friend.
My crush is of a rare breed,
A day without me makes her heart bleed
She's of a special twist,
She can't go a day unkissed
She's hardly a normal girl,
Her colour's extremely dull
Her nails are are pointed like a needle,
Too much for me to handle
Her hands are as soft as a baby's buttocks,
She caresses me and never stops
Her eyes, red like pepper,
She's the reason I'll live long and prosper
Her name is Kenyangi,
Though she prefers to be called Winnie Nwagi.
