The mule in Gaza
Slowly, on delicate legs, the last mule
in Gaza, pulling a cart carrying old
mattresses, broken chairs, and small
shrouds of children to a resting place
Pulling a kart is as easy as there is no
elevations in Gaza, nor is there
a succulent green field where to feed
Who feeds the mule? It can't live on
spent shells alone, who gives it water
to drink, can it be Hamas, who see in
the mule: the long dream of freedom
We all have dreams, the mule's easy
a green field of luscious green grass.

I got this stubborn little mule
who doesn't like school
Each time I give him a carrot
he starts to drool !
Each time I try and teach it
he looks at me like I'm an idiot !
I tell him he has to wear a tie
and dang, he starts to cry !
Each time he yanks my chain,
I go bonkers, its insane !

A former Canadian Mountie
Lost his mule and put up a bounty
Though he searched high and low
He got lost in the snow
And found his ass in the next county

Mule minded
Plough, my mule
a furrow in my name
the almond tree blossoms
there will
be another furrow
in my name
memories collect
spent bullets
in a mass grave
in pursuit of knowledge
while yellow flowers
at the edge
of a memory
wilts
not robust enough
to plough another furrow

There was a gentle tiger named Dreaded
He met a donkey who was hardheaded
That donkey just wasn’t afraid
Refusing to run, he stayed
Dreaded roared loud, “you’re just too pigheaded”!

Riding a mule into town....
Or is it riding me?
There is a new prospective for you..
One you never see.

Look at him this old, foolish, useless ass
Let’s push him aside as we gaily pass
Cruel, unforgiving folk would taunt and say
How they tried to hurry him on his way
But he knew he’d been useful in his time
So took no heed of humans moan and whine
He wandered slowly from place to place
The folk not knowing to them such a grace
He was no ordinary, dull, little mule
A good story he could tell as a rule
Of happy, sunlit days left in the past
Forever in his memory to last
Tales of bravery, companionship to bray
The dear, loyal soul had so much to say
If only folk would stop to think and see
A life together could be full of glee
A union of humans and an old mule
He really wasn’t just an silly fool
But an old faithful friend until the end
Wise little fellow with love to transcend

Hitch The Old Mule And Load The Harvest Cart
Across the plains a bad ole murky mess
Unites in its quivering tears apart
And the bashful bride dares not that confess
As she knows for sure it would break his heart
Bloated bodies bend with such dusky chills
And the ill cast weather leaves what it starts
Grandpa cries, "Hon' bring me my little pills"
Hitch the old mule and load the harvest cart
Watch the red moon and its wide flaming rings
Crow knows the tiger will eat anything
And the fairies dance their proud lovers swing
While the farmer's wife wakes early to sing
Dawn rises and its glory proudly displays
Cheating gambler faces well-earned pay!

Faerie fawn did not realize she was being watched I am sure.
With a wave of her wand, she conjured a mule deer pure.
He leapt in the air and took off with a dash down the hill.
In amazement I felt that leap; my surprised heart was at a standstill.

One end of a mule is certain to reek
Its alternative end whinnies and shrieks
A mule may let go
So you'd better know
Which end will just speak ~ and which spreads its cheeks

It is a two-faced herbivore whose nose is in its feed-bag
While it still eats from the manger with others around the flag.

There is time when there is time
And there is time when there is no time
My next door neighbor, a loving lad
My Lad, You travelled west
You went far away, to fly back
Away to come back in a plane
A plane to seek my hand in Love
My Love to keep and fold
Now, my distant seeker
The seeker rode on a mule
A mule without an eye away
He arrived the day when you left
You left to pick a chopper for me
A Chopper and now I'm gone
Gone with him aboard
Aboard our Lovely mule
Tapping the ground around
Stamping love notes
Cooking on the sand
I hear you came
Smelling the best of the west
The chopper flashing the chest
Give us the chopper
To go where you went
And take our mule
To search another soul
This then you note
A mule on earth can move
Faster than a chopper
Living in the sky.

bucks up against all rules

Not bringing along my tool
Has me made a Big fool:
A breaker of workers First Rule
And copyist of The Empty Mue
That should back turn to school…
So unprofessional an omission
That I be quick about its admission
But here I am rather cool,
Placidly surveying a greenish pool
While I had all deserved but a stool
And time to over spirogyra drool.

When camping keep the watermelon in the creek
to keep it cool
Always do your homework first after school
Wait thirty minutes after eating before swimming
in the pool
Love thy neighbor as yourself follow the golden rule
Count to ten before speaking in anger and being
a fool
Never lend or borrow and you will avoid strife and duels
Drink a glass of water before you eat so you won't drool
Be respectful to adults so people know we raised
a little jewel
As a child I heard them all but was scolded for being
stubborn as a mule
