When one is down and out
Do not give up on life,
The bible says
‘And it came to pass’
Never did it say
It came to stay!

A repost of an old Tanka form poem.
Two guys, wannabe poets decided
to compose a unique poem jointly;
both agreed terms of writing conjointly
with rhymes and syllables as per guidance.
Thought each will write one line a few times to
form poem, the result will be breakthrough.
First wrote, if you fail, I will take final
call; No, wrote other guy, how can you do?
If you need me, I will reciprocate;
it's wrong, you don't pick up phone, I've noticed;
If you cry, I'll wipe tears; Oh! That’s bogus.
Why you write such response to irritate?
Can't you think perfect words what will touch hearts
Think afresh, don't stop thoughts flow once it starts.

Light brings gratitude,
Cocoon of dark hides
The butterfly inside.
Some dark things rape--
The mind, the body and life.
And yet, memories faded, return--
The nights make dreams, not dread.

Sevenling form poem
Read me, like a word on a blank white page
Both black and white.
If there is any gray, only you can see
Between my lines.
My thoughts play upon my brow, so you find
Emotions there.
The book of life has written all the lines
From care and wear.
If you care to read them once or twice more
Then tarry in my eyes gaze locked with yours.

Cavatina form poem
Gonna wake up
At the brink of dawn
With the d a r n little red rooster
Cock-a-doodle doodling alarm
Saddle
My horse and ride out
Cross the river to the green field about
Make sure those sneaky coyotes
Haven't had lambchop for dinner.
Then
Gonna water all of my crop
Gonna spread out
All the bales of hay
Where the goats and the horses
And the cattle stay
After
Dinner with a little moonshine
The best d a m nnnn... moonshine
That I ever made
With my woman Suzanne

Try A New Style - Something You Have Never Or Hardly Ever Tried Poetry
Sponsored by: Caren Krutsinger
As children
a snow angel was
a lovely
shape made by
joyful, flapping jumping jacks
on your back in snow
As adults
a snow angel is
someone who
rescues you
from grueling grunt work of snow
mountains blown aside

This Shadorma form poem was written in heartfelt appreciation of a kind neighbor who saw my snow shoveling misery and rescued me with their snowblower (before this wicked Midwest Winter totally finished me off)!
Between The Change
A convalescent waking on the first day of decision
I enjoy, wafting fragrance, as hot tea radiates morning air
But tomorrow, will bring the warmth, as does the springtime sun

"Sijo" form poem for contest
Sponsor Heidi Sands
Lazy moon winks golden reflections of melting black sunshine
yearning it's desire against the blue evening sky.
Smiling widely, a rainbow appears like magic before my eyes,
each beautiful color shining like the jeweled tears it cries.
Red lips and dusk's royal blue cheeks, gleam as they pass by
greeting the night, they're pure delight, against the blazing skyline.
In vivid intensity my bewildered mind watches in perplexing delight,
confused by what I think is real and what just can't be right.
All to soon I hear the stars as they scurry through the night
creating flames that burn the rainbow colors from my sight.
In my mind the darkness whispers words of screaming fright.
Devoid of thought the moon dissolves to a dot of fading light.
Longing release from this awful sight, my eyes I open wide
So close to me, as I'm coming home, my sacrament by my side,
dot on square just lying there, I place it on my tongue.

Transformation
(KTHS Quartet)
The autumn’s golden days at last are done
Hush falling on the woodlands
The sun sinks out of sight
Glowing in the sky
pine trees dressed in lacy white
transformed magic land
covered with soft silent snow
displaying winter with grace
frosted windowpanes
shimmering in the moon’s glow
chilling winds rush by
crystal flower beds
embracing this fairyland
wonderland of white

First Step
(KTHS Quartet)
It’s the first step towards getting somewhere
One bold stroke can change the day
Practice and just do it
You are on your way
make each day your masterpiece
use the gifts they bring
unlock your heartfelt desire
by doing what you enjoy
with friends and courage
heaven unlocks the doorway
blessings from above
always remember
the hearts peace comes from knowing
believe in yourself

What?
Water
Colorful
Blue-green water
Sea foam on the shore
Lapping at my bare feet
All but buried up to my shin
Like a camera pointed straight down
Blue-green, brown, tan sand with tiny sea shells
If only I had some colored pencils

Etheree form poem for the contest
The rush in the seat
Woven by someone you love
The arch of the back four slats
Empty now for years
Polished by someone now gone
The shadow that haunts the room
Could it be that one
Looking for a place to sit
And think about his lost love
If it is that one
What could be better than this
A chair in a shadowed room

one before. I hope I got it right - 5-7-7-5-7-7-5-7-7-5-7-7
You pass me by on distant shore
where drought caused forest fires roar
where rivers rise and harsh rains pour
I cry no more, I cry no more.
You witness want on bended knee
Upon the screens of your TV
My children die before they’re free
No hope for me, no hope for me
Your oil hunger, corporate greed
Still planting wars from scattered seed
Creating slaves by forcing need
My heart does bleed, my heart does bleed
The oceans and the mountains call
Pray stop the pain of Eden’s fall
This earth belongs to great and small
For one and all, for one and all
