Rainbow Dreams 'The Cold Dark Truth'

Lazy moon winks golden reflections of melting black sunshine
yearning it's desire against the blue evening sky.
Smiling widely, a rainbow appears like magic before my eyes,
each beautiful color shining like the jeweled tears it cries.
Red lips and dusk's royal blue cheeks, gleam as they pass by
greeting the night, they're pure delight, against the blazing skyline.
In vivid intensity my bewildered mind watches in perplexing delight,
confused by what I think is real and what just can't be right.

All to soon I hear the stars as they scurry through the night
creating flames that burn the rainbow colors from my sight.
In my mind the darkness whispers words of screaming fright.
Devoid of thought the moon dissolves to a dot of fading light.

Longing release from this awful sight, my eyes I open wide
So close to me, as I'm coming home, my sacrament by my side,
dot on square just lying there, I place it on my tongue.

but you want release , not to start again, right? Anyway, I love that phrase "My sacrament by my side" and I am assuming lysergic acid is the scientific name for it? What a cool concept you came up with, my friend. VERY cool!!

The nature of the beast is that the only way to get release after becoming addicted is through another high and another trip. "A sacrament by my side is a metaphor, "sacrament" in drug terms means a hit of LSD placed on the tongue as if it were the Eucharist. Black sunshine, red lips, royal blues, rainbows and dots all refer to different types of LSD. "Coming home" means losing the high which leaves you wanting another one. The actual name is Lysergic acid diethylamide but was to long for the 16 line max for the contest. The LSD acronym comes from its German name. It was first produced in Switzerland. Thanks Andrea.

Thanks Nette. I believe that various drugs can create altered states of mind but the beauty of the art that one creates and their ability to create that art is there already. I don't think the Beatles would have been any less of a success without using drugs, although their Sargent Pepper album may not exist.
