Love is a fickle thing
When your needs aren’t met.
Straying is an option,
But not for the faithful.
They believe in the words once spoken.
Deep roots embedded for generations.
Modeled for those knee-high and older.
To have healthy, safe love.
Who seek the truth behind those not vulnerable.
Desirable, affectionate, and successful they will be
Tired from all the love they’ll receive.

Our sour cream will soon expire
Going by its expiration date
What happens then, I'm left to ponder,
Will going sweet, then be its new state?
I guess then I'll have some sweet cream
In my coffee I guess it can go
But wait, has my coffee expired?
Who knows these days, with GMO?
Who wants expired coffee in their cup?
If it's expired, then doe's it go flat?
If flat, it might not fit in a cup
Then on a plate, would be where it's at!
So here's to the newest generation
To the lot of you living the dream
Enjoy your flat coffee on a plate
And don't forget your sweet, sour cream!

Aging is not easy, some days one feels like a sloth; lethargic.
Sometimes one feels as though eating is, a dreaded and exhausting chore.
But, one day you’ll realize, that bump on the log, is yourself!

Because he is out of his mind
The void fills with gas
That blows out his ass
And leaves the blind leading the blind

EXHAUSTING THE COLORS OF THE DAY
Twilight trees lowing,
in the splendiferous lilac sky,
invisible to the inhabitants,
gathered round a late night supper.
A roof peeks into the camera’s eye —
the home’s beneath the sculptor’s scene.
I wonder if the Creator’s florid ink
leaks into their minds,
as they break bread and clasp hands,
and the night sky squeezes hues
of pink, purple and gray,
exhausting its supply for the day?

I find it exhausting,
This relay of information.
Each person is composed of certain facts,
Certain stories,
A different and unique composition.
The fairytale is that one day,
We let one special someone,
Read our whole composition,
But this is not true,
And that is why it is so exhausting.
You meet someone,
You tell them your name,
Favorite color,
Birthday,
Favorite place to travel,
And as time passes, you tell the more,
You tell them about your soul,
But more importantly, you give them a piece of it.
-----------------------------
Then you meet someone new,
Same story follows,
But instead of giving them a piece of your soul,
Like you think you’re doing,
You’re just giving them the same piece,
You gave the last person!
And soon the whole world,
Has read one page of your composition,
And you’re left,
Sitting there.
Torn because,
You have a whole story no one bothered to read,
But
You also have a missing page
You can never get back.
An incomplete story is what you become.
Exhausting.

Lighthouse in the distance, they bask in its light
Darkness is lit up with each of its passing
Three women in bathing suits dance in the night
They put their toes in the sand, just so warming
They giggle and laugh with total merriment
Night’s most precious when living in the moment
They went to exhaustion, had lots of real fun
To home they went because the evening was done

4 adults in a room
discussing something or other
they’ve just met or they’ve known each other for years
either way they have nothing to talk about
one is a lawyer
one is a doctor
one is an analyst
one is a stockbroker
babbling away about the food
talking about their kids as if they were the ingredients on the side of a
cereal box
the need to keep money in order to
“stay afloat”
masks the fact that they were born into it &
the accumulation of things
keeps them together
because the hassle of divorce
just doesn’t seem very plausible
given their schedules---
none of them have slept with any of them for years &
they’d be hard pressed to remember each other’s birthday
much less their favorite colors,
but they are stable
all of them---
from the outside they appear like good little worker ants
pulling pieces of foodstuff from parts distant &
bringing them daily through the tunnels to the queen
voting in every local & national election
going to church on sundays
playing golf on weekends
and using the word “summer”
as a verb,
in this conversation
which none of them will be able to recollect a single word of
the minute that it stops.
