Exhausting the Colors of the Day
EXHAUSTING THE COLORS OF THE DAY
Twilight trees lowing,
in the splendiferous lilac sky,
invisible to the inhabitants,
gathered round a late night supper.
A roof peeks into the camera’s eye —
the home’s beneath the sculptor’s scene.
I wonder if the Creator’s florid ink
leaks into their minds,
as they break bread and clasp hands,
and the night sky squeezes hues
of pink, purple and gray,
exhausting its supply for the day?
