It is not that I do not care
or your worries that I share
Your problems though they be
are not really about me

Sympathy not much
feelings out of touch
Concern forgive my yawn
angry I feel rather calm

Wrong or right
good or bad
let it be
I am sleepy

So stew on for awhile
I am neutral timid and mild
Maybe a nap and after I wake
we can sort it out, see what's at stake

Simmer down and go slow
ease off and let it go
If you blow your top
will it ever stop

Mediocre as it seems
dumb to others sure its deem
but important to you you you
for the hundredth time walk me through.

True lovers

True lovers everywhere,
Romance charms in the air,
Smiles from them anywhere,
Hearts beat true, debonair,
Our love, such froth and bubble,
Can ease off any trouble,
Lovers' hearts in diverse shades,
Ever flower in romance glades.

1950 truck

climb up high
on cold leather seat
and put the key
into the switch
set the handbrake
good and tight
step on the clutch
make sure it’s not in gear
pull out the choke
and pump the gas
switch on the power
and step on
the starter pedal
once it catches
let off the pedal
give it some gas
ease in the choke
foot on the brake
one on the clutch
shift in the second
not compound low
step off the brake
give it some gas
ease off the clutch
with a lurch start off
some today
will proudly say
they can drive a stick
but I wonder if
if I put them in
in 1950 truck
if they could start it
let alone drive

Premium Member Letting Go

In life, sometimes, I must engage the clutch -
I step on the gas, navigate, and drive.
At other times, that doesn't help too much,
I ease off, coasting freely to survive.

In younger years, I'd grab onto the reins -
start a family, pursue a career.
Now that I am retired with aches and pains,
my kid is independent, not so near.

As life brings changes I must undergo,
I find it's better to stop and let go.

Premium Member Hey, Aggressive Driver

Swerving in and out of lanes without
A care in the world. Great, now you cut
Into mine! Did you bother signaling?
Of course, you didn't. The impatience!
           The rudeness! Flipping birds? Really?

Feuding with time could prove costly,
So ease off the gas pedal; stop baiting
          State troopers. Reduce speed; you're
Heading home from work, or an errand,
I suppose, because the sun is setting.

Are you recreating "Fast Five" scenes, or
     Living dangerously at motorists' expense?
Well, the highway is no NASCAR track!
I'm rather surprised you don't rack up
                 Speeding tickets, or do ya?

How about this; head to your destination
Half an hour early. Yeah, try that for a change!
Stay in your lane, slow down; you're begging
For an accident, the fatal kind. And quit
The road-raging! Should you even be driving?

Rapids Ahead

I hear the canyon echo the cascading eddies’ volume,
Growing louder as I paddle closer to run the descent,
To enter the lake past water, hidden rocks, and seething foam,
While an eagle soaring the gorge shrieks an impending portent.

The walls are too steep for portaging the cataract in front,
So either I seek another route or forge on straight ahead.
To challenge destiny bewilders the passive goer’s want
When serenity in life is a more secure goal instead.

Cannot the way be more perilous when fate meets its limits?
I glide my canoe between the boulders, avoiding the onslaught
Of being ripped to shreds when thrown about in the driving rapids;
I break, turn with the oar this way and that and never ease off!

Then my fear subsides when the waters calm as I ride the crest;
I’ve come this far and have further to go before I can rest.

Please enter in peace, says the loving heart
Freeze thought forms, leaving them outside the door
Seize the moment and then let it depart
Ease off ego urges that do gore

Flow without resistance, inviting bliss
Slow down, oh hermit, agitated mind
Glow with the divine entwined love caress
Blow away bubbles of desire that bind

What does it take to write a poem,
a format, a principle perhaps imagination,
If like me you make it up going along,
can turn into a leaning conflagration.

Sparks in the first verse are starting points,
but might fade out with a whimper,
Thought I had something going there,
too complicated, let’s try something simpler,

I need fresh kindling, to create a flash,
not just latent potential,
Good starting to catch, providing a glow,
but much more fuel is essential.

Lightning strike out of nowhere,
creative thoughts bring more accelerant,
Flames appear radiating tepid heat,
a little crude, requiring elegance.

This fire is burning all my reserves,
morphing into a raging inferno,
Now spreading out of control gone wild,
lacking containment and tempo,

Ok ease off the gas, take deep breaths,
attempt to regain composure,
Boy almost lost it there,
must keep in surrounded enclosure.

On the home straight my poem’s on fire,
nice and steady, aflame at last,
Time for crescendo, pull it all together,
along comes a draught.....blast!

South African lockdown

Gone is the heave, the bustle and the crowds
The pavements are weeping like widows without sounds
The governments are ruling with their heads in the clouds
We should not be submissive wearing fear as our shrouds
Shops and small business are collecting dust,
certain of finally all going bust.
Who then will take care of the poor and oppressed?
while the elite dressed in their opulence remain so blessed!
Lockdowns and spikes, confusion and fear
uncertainty, poverty, protest and crime become clear
stand on your balconies, porches or steps, shout out your anger at being so misled
don’t clap for key staff members but for your freedoms instead
What is the virus which has so much clout
We are starting to question it has left us in doubt
Fear is holding us hostage with dread
We need to be working as who buys the bread?
Ease off the peddle of this vicious control
you have each country stuck in a hole
We will not be silenced our voices will be heard
We will not go down without a fight this is absurd
Release these clasps
Remove these masks
We were born free as birds
Our anger is stirred our vision not blurred

The highway of life is full of speed bumps and unseen peril
Heed the rules of the road; ease off the gas pedal when traveling
On a serpentine route, or risk careening off a high cliff

These words and thoughts, they leave me ashamed,
Disgraced with the man that I am,
Disgraced and bound tight, unable to breathe,
Feeling as though I am damned,

And everyone wants a piece of my peace,
I feel like I’m smothered and tied,
I think everyone thinks I’m for their target shots,
To shoot at and injure inside,

You see, the lifestyle I lead, the leisure I love,
The things my heart and soul all yearn for,
My mind only wants to do all these things,
My mind thinks I’m a broken down whore,

And these moments recalled, souvenirs on my head,
All tattooed in ink to my brain,
They’ll never leave, never ease off the ache,
Forever filling me up with the pain.

Our Long Lost Love

Out of the blue
I think of you
Who is to blame?
For loss of flame

Our love has gone
To a dark dawn
I feel the pain
Tears down the drain

For in the past
Our love was vast
Now death is near
Stop sign to fear

I see my gloom
I feel the doom
We shut the door
Live in the core

Love is now hard
We build the barred
The sad is deep
For now, we weep

We take the pills
To stop the ills
No love for hire
No more the fire

Blind eyes that speak
Mad mind so bleak
Take back the strain
Ease off the brain

Come back to me
That I may plea
Your love be mine
To this, we dine.

Lost

Silently sitting under the Rain,
Hoping it washes away my Pain
Straight down the Drain
And ease off this Strain.

My back in so much Pain
Evidence of Hardwork.
What would be the Gain,
Would i meet with Luck.

Sweep the distance off my Feet,
And bring the journey to Me.
In my eyes you will See,
That life is not so Sweet.

Wearing poverty as a Dress,
I walk with constant Stress.
And i knew i had lost Track,
As i am deep in the Dark.

Take Rest

Crock! Crock!!
Fredi leaps up and down the mud
Raindrops raindrop hovers the wand
At fall ha ease off on a weed beside the ponds
Tomorrow mt be chill I feel the bond

Quack! Quack!!
Dorthy floats along the river
How cold comes the hamattern, she don’t seem to shiver
Should all earth be streams of silver
it wouldn’t stop that period of motherly warmth

tweet! Tweet!!
Helen flops above the garden
Oh no! stop dreaming, this sparse cant be hidden
Not when its area cannot be re-written
Yet perching she wont stop singing

Oh! No!!
Man moves here and there
Memories, feelings and love he wants to share
No matter how fast as a hare
Your butt should for a while stick to a chair
It really shows you care.
