In life, sometimes, I must engage the clutch - I step on the gas, navigate, and drive. At other times, that doesn't help too much, I ease off, coasting freely to survive.  In younger years, I'd grab onto the reins - start a family, pursue a career. Now that I am retired with aches and pains, my kid is independent, not so near.   As life brings changes I must undergo, I find it's better to stop and let go.

If you're anything like me David you're probably wondering how the heck you found the time to do the things you did while working. Yes, aches and pains rear their ugly heads now and again but, what the heck, there are times I feel like I'm growing down. I hope you do to. Imagination plays a big part in that as does poetry. I sense in your poem that this may be the same for you. Nice write. Cheers - Gary

Hi Gary. Yep, I can definitely relate to wonder how I found that time when working. Other people had told me that they had that same experience, so I'm not totally surprised. Interesting expression, growing down - man, I love not working!

Yep, it seems like as I get older, there's more stuff I have to let go of, and say goodbye to, like doing double back flips, but it seems easier to let go. Maybe, by replacing actually doing something to imagining doing something.
