Cynosure

On the dreary streets of a quaint but callus steadfast hamlet

A pearl in the bluster carries a handwoven sweet grass basket

The umbrella' d  tinge of the tiny town was opaque and gray

As the girl in the blue dress out shined the break of day

A beauty comparable to the first hint of light after winters

Could you have ever thought that one day
You would come and stay with me without dad?
Not once did you let such a thought trespass your lifelong service.
Overwhelmed and blessed am I that you are with me, Mother!
Sad that our slotted time is coming close to an end. Your words like a conjurer's trick

Cynosure

You remember
I know you do;
all the shades of gold
captured in our hands--

that day when everything fit
the world perfect on its axis;
we stopped or so it seemed
its spin, sun, moon, and stars--
when brilliance stood still, waiting
for us to seal love's demand.

A cynosure is he for me -
Night’s diamond beaming brilliantly;
The star I search for in the sky.
When seeing it, I have to sigh!

My emerald and red ruby -
A cynosure is he for me.
A pearl washed up from ocean’s floor
Now shining on a moonlit shore.

A sapphire’s sparkle in the sun;

Being happy was my wish for cynosure,
in living, I sought either fame or wealth...
having seen the results of utter foolishness;
although I claim nothing, I have everything. 

No villas in Hollywood with a big screen and pool,  
no ranches on the wild prairies of Southern Texas,
no suites on the Upper East Side* or Greenpoint,*
