Capsizing the Costa Concordia

Divers wreathe silently through
the submerged corridors of a
140,000-ton wreck. Little fish
dark haphazardly through
the juxtaposition of tilted ballroom,
granite bars fixed in place.
Black waters lit green by headlamps
provide a surreal spotlight
for a loveseat drifting by
A vase of Chinese dollar plants poised delicately
on a marble counter.
Across the underwater tomb,
toppled chairs, tumbled together,
wait patiently to be repositioned
outside

No Llores Por Ml Costa Rica

No llores por mí Costa Rica
Don’t cry for me Costa Rica

Me llamo Cabuya de la familia Agave.
My name is Cabuya from the Agave family.

Yo tengo hojas largas y verdes con forma de espadas dentadas como chorros de agua de una fuente.
I have long green leaves shaped like serrated swords shooting out of a fountain.

Estoy de

horses, lances, arrows, fire
they reenact the war of the roses

the outdoor setting
has been erected next to Costa

outside on the ground
napkins, zarfs and stirrers

and half the audience gets their
medieval caffeine hit

that encourages us to yell and whoo-hoo
and pay attention to history

they encourage us to cheer and boo
and after all these years

with a cappuccino in

At Costa Coffee

Across the room
I fell in sudden love
With the coffee smear
Lightly resting
On her top lip

A sudden love that
Just as quickly
Disappeared when
She wiped it away
With her fingertip

birds of tropics
spread your wings
with divine grace
and vivid color

come to life
free your gleeful
cries of bounty
in lavish sea of
vibrant greens

closest thing
to paradise

Premium MemberThe Costa Coffee I Earned To Drink

A stammer has been mine all my days
in recent months therapy again did take
but fear ruled through many a situation
what's to do? zero as it couldn't even shake

Many branches of Costa coffee shops
but always busy queued up made me fear
my tongue would block not able to speak
this my thoughts filled my mind like a spear

I

Costa Lamento

Same old routine, same venue too
We join the queue, I order
Flat white for her with fern motif
Tan crema round the border
For me a capuccino, large
With sifted chocolate powder
Baristas all look younger now
The music slightly louder

We grab our favourite corner seat
Our meal, the usual fare
Two toasties filled with ham and cheese
A Chelsea bun to share
The great

Elfin forest,
Hiding in Peru,
Waiting for fog drip

Gnarled trunks,
Lichens, ferns, orchids,
Mossy forest's trolls

Intense tree canopy
Keeping shy mountain gorilla's secrets
Holding raindrops hostage

Perpetual fog,
Adding a mystique
of shadowed magic

Tropical delight
Heavily affected by
Global climate changes

Elfin forest,
Lending her mosses
To lead the way

Costa Rican Sunrise
Written: by Tom Wright
1/16/2014
What Tom sees

At sunrise God’s handiwork is seen
A pied image by the Master’s hand
Into dangling palm branches green
And loitering shadows shielding sand

Soon revealing white capped breakers
So wax your boards get ready to frolic
Surf is rising, are there yet any takers
God’s love through nature is symbolic

Costa Rica

Very vibrant green lots of different trees
The quetzal bird sings in the bright morning
Aqua and red feathers fly through the fog
On the beach lay the tracks of a turtle
The sand is hot and soft during mid-day
It starts to rain in the wet green jungle
The strawberry darters hop in the rain
Pick some pineapples they grow

“I must be out of my mind,” I thought
As I hurled myself into the green abyss
Over the forest canopy the zip-line went
“Never, ever again if I manage to survive this”…

I survived and now must brag a bit
I was as brave as brave could ever be
Just part of our Costa Rican vacation
In a wondrous country I’d

Costa Rica

In Puerto Lemon I met a girl, back then there were
many girls in Puerto Lemon, only she wasn’t of them,
she was the daughter of the harbour master
And she had class. I knew the harbour master well and
it was at his home I met her.
We had dinner, to my dismay it was alcohol-free
so
