Bubbling brook
mumbles beautiful poetry to the wind,
And as curious birch trees
lean in to hear its mutterings,
a swiftly running stream sings.

When we first met, our love so stark
Would our love sizzle, even spark
Soon a tiny sprinkle implied
Trickling spring bubbled from inside
Beside the lake, when we were young
Our budding love became far-flung
Our love we no longer could hide
Our love's spring bubbled from inside
A young man took a risk in time
Without a reason or a rhyme
The moves you made surely implied
Trickling spring bubbled from inside
Our spring grew into a river
Soon became a child's caregiver
Three children in lifetime we've strive
Still a spring bubbled from inside

Calm is a creek--also a BUBBLING brook.
Creek fits better for crooked is its path.
Journey unknown, yet no hesitant look;
TRICKLING on, it SPLASHES stones in a bath.
Above, an owl SCREECHES, BUZZING bees prowl.
Ladybug SIPS nectar in tiny SLURP.
Baby bear, covered in fuzz, starts to HOWL,
drinks from momma then issues a loud BURP.
Breeze WHISPERS poems, jays HUSH all CHATTER,
leaves softly RUSTLE their thrills in her song.
Raindrops begin: so gently they SPLATTER
on leaves RAT-A-TAT while singing along.
Could this be heaven? In daydreams, it could:
a bird choir CHIRPING sounds of silver BELL.
Dreaming mid tangled plants and oaken wood,
finding myself again 'neath summer's spell.
CRACKLING with magic, it's my perfect find.
Does it matter it dwells but in my mind?

Both liberation and bondage
The touch of love and acts savage
Sensed at the centreless fulcrum
Where no mind-body battles rage
Our soul, in this here body prism
Once aligned with love, leaves no chasm
Nestled at God’s feet, bliss replete
Bliss bursts at our sensorium
Head melds with heart, at the love seat
Greeting each face we chance to meet
Truth dawns without aid of mirrors
Savouring soma nectar sweet
In joy imbibing bliss tremors
All are love and light reflectors
Luminous in the vibrant void
Delighting in bliss borne shivers

Share bubbling mirth, with one and all
Until all becomes light
Heart radiates benign bliss squall
Heightening our delight
Feel deep magnetic pull
Root to crown, all voids full
Bliss mist does sins annul
Here upon earth
Share bubbling mirth

Yes, I smell sulfur
Brimstone seepage smothers me
Earth’s crust pizza thin
Mud pools like cauldrons bubble
Dante’s infernal region.
Underworld torment
Geysers vent their hot rage
I am thunderstruck
Extreme caution is needed
The inferno is waiting.
A trip many years ago to Rotorua reminded me of Dante's Inferno. The smell of sulfur (Brimstone) and bubbling mud pools all made me think of the Divine Comedy. I wrote this poem while the experience was fresh in my mind but it has been tweaked again to fit syllable count. These days I try to be accurate regarding haiku and tanka.

“no doing to be done, save undoing
erasing all our past conditioning“
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Born free, in the void of inner silence
Understanding intuitively, truth
Birthing ego for life experience
Blocked is the light, by our own hand forsooth
Lament not, oh hermit, for we are free
Ignite within the heart, the lamp of love
Negating nothing, in our joyful spree
Gods grace present both within and above
Joy, empathy, purity, compassion
Open heart reflects without cessation
Yielding within, throb of bliss elation
When we had small farms, the child in me loved natural springs
Almost every memory of farming has a bubbling spring choir -
These days, as I recycle water from my sink in bottles, for my plants
Each day, I hear ancient music our tribes smiled at, near pond and wells
Real Magic: Life and WATER. Garden. Family. Farm. Food. Freedom Music
I heard a little of the old bubbling
This morning on the phone – first
Surgery one, then, two, then there were none.
Then I muse about the ladies who never
See their children, nor hear their laughs,
Those far away on mountains or on seas who won’t be back,
And I know now there are the cruelest of cruel viruses,
There have been those ugly things before,
Though I have grown old and most likely will go on before,
But you, you are light hearted, and have faith and belief,
I love you my child, and I will hold back tears that you teach me,
But to have you this day would be this Saturday's relief.
Aerial dribs and drabs, a sidewalk canvas
As a toddler chases bubbles her mother blows
from confectionary soap,
Fluttering fluidity in spring air
Child's laugh, a mosaic of innocence, discovery and glee
Her run after each globe, unsteady, twisted gravity
Her footwork shifts in warfare wobble, no sinkhole falling
Her reach to pop each bubble, circus kerfuffle, giddy,
giggles that swing like a trapeze artist,
while a mother retrieves
unexpected memory
shards of recovery
that coat a guarded self
Neverland jester, a child's guileless glow,
routing air baubles
unconstrained by space,
untethered from fear,
avoiding a fall off the planet
to limited mobility
For sometimes life's march
doesn't start on time
Wisdom from above, enmeshed in Love, comes complete
How then make more wisdom flow ... I didn't know
But then the best teacher discovered this dithering fool, me -
O how this Teacher renews my mind, unwinds the dark and dank in me
From my belly a refreshing flow murmurs, then mumbles and rumbles
And I see a vessel being filled. Soon full, how to harness the flow?
As with a vessel, so with a soul, Spirit of Wisdom says
Take from this Spirit daily - almost manna, remember Hannah
And Sarah and Abraham and Ruth and Rahab, and Rustic Rabbi
Living waters of grace, wave after wave, grace upon grace
The surplus that overflows your vessel, doesn't flow over and away
There's a thirsty traveler passing every day
Someone, too, rejected by her kind, comes solitary to the well
Meets the Designer indeed! Who will thirst anymore, rich or poor
When the rains fail, when the ogres wail, share this cup
There is no drought in the Spirit of Wisdom. Will I draw it up
Do I have a rope of right strength and length, a pail and the practice?
Or will I be ready for the surprise: where to redirect Spirit's brimming surplus?
